Just bought my ex a really good used 2003 Subaru Outback today. Only 40,000 miles on it, and I got an extended warranty for the car. It's been kept in really good condition, and the interior, as well as the exterior, is immaculate. A bit more than I really wanted to pay ( $15,000 ), but I'll have it paid off in less than a year, so it's kewl.

So why am I buying a car for my ex? 'Cause I promised a few years ago that as soon as I could afford it, I'd buy her a really nice car. :p

Ummm...if she's your ex, why did you promise her that you would buy her a new car?

Uh ... how about because when I made her that promise we were still living together? :p

We're not divorced, just been separated for about seven years. Heh!

And you actually kept your promise even when your marrage is gone? Wow.

And give your ex this from me: :fluffle:

Those really are very good cars. Almost guaranteed not to break. Good choice.

And very kind of you.

Yay, way to go you! So many people forget what they said they'd do, or just refuse to do it anymore, because of anger/resentment/whatever, but you held to your integrity. You rock!

She picked out that car herself. Our sons and I told her that was a really good car.

Perhaps a bit kind, but at least no one can say I had any ulterior motive! Heh!

Not always, but I try. Learned that by helping to raise five kids. Nothing destroys a kid's faith in people faster than broken promises.
