Yeah it was marvelous! England, Holland, Belgium and France - although we stayed in London, Amsterdam and Paris. Amsterdam was teh best and the place we got the least time in though :mad: OH well I still loved it but wanna move to Europe ASAP :cool:

It's called shingles in an adult. I hear it's much worse that way. It's better to get chicken pox as a child to develop an immunity early on.

I haven't been there either.:D But I am a bit familiar with some of the history, and in German class I did research on the German-speaking nations, generally historical research. Lots of fascinating things there, like the statue of Arminius (i.e. Hermann the German).

It's called shingles in an adult. I hear it's much worse that way. It's better to get chicken pox as a child to develop an immunity early on.

No-shingles are different. I think chicken pox are called Varicella (?) and shingles are a different condition-similar though in attacking nerve endings.

I had a very high fever for days, lost 25 pounds through pure sweating and had the lesions internally-scarring my liver and kidneys. The lesions on my diaphragm muscle made breathing unbearable. And it also affected my heart valves.
I'd rather have had it as a kid than do the three days in an intensive/isolation unit.

My kids have all had the vaccine. So far, its worked.

Yeah-and the shingles lesions are excrutiating.

The woman I caught chicken pox from got pneumonia and died in the same hospital I was in, the day I was admitted.

So-they had me in a stifling prvate isolation room with double doors and a different ventilation system. Everyone that was allowed in had to gown and mask.

Plus we get the tough love here, with people telling us to get over it and ourselves and to just quit whining.
It's not just tough love though. We get some of both: the compassionate woman and the grumpy old man archetypes, those who make us feel consoled and comforted and those who, as you say, tell us to just get over it. We really need the mix of both, especially from nearly strangers. All the while, we also get to create meaningful relationships with people and we never need to be bothered with the irrelevant details of physical appearance and social posing.

Yes, actually. But it's a very intimate thing to truly know someone or oneself.
