Actually Gerrard missing a game could be good, giving a chance to Carrick and to what I consider to be a formaton that will work.

Not too worried about Ballack missing. Costa Rica is probably not top opposition, and as I said, Tim Borowski can play the same position very well, although he might not score as often.

As for the game against England, it'll go down to penalties, and we all know what comes next...

And besides, Germany will play Sweden in the second round.

I've replaced Ballack with Borowski. I've never heard of him before, so I hope he goes well! :) To be honest, the only other German midfielder there that I have heard of is Frings, but I wouldn't have a clue whether he's any good or not.

Yeah, I'm not too worried. I just hope the combination Podolski/Schweinsteiger can become as powerful as the Völler/Klinsmann one back in the day. So Germany doesn't have to rely on Ballack for goals anymore.
And then there's still Klose. So offensively, I'd say Germany is in good shape. It's in the back where the thing is won or lost. But not against an opposition like Costa Rica.

But strangely, I should be caring only about the World Cup...and yet I find myself waiting all day for a message from a girl. Funny how that goes sometimes. :p

I suppose it was sort of weird. But then, probability-wise there would always have to be easy groups. That it should be Germany to get one was a bit of a coincidence though.

Be that as it may, not only am I not going to complain, but considering this any further could potentially be taking away from what could be a good show. ;)

Yeah, I agree about Germany being offensively fine, Klose's scored 25 league goals, created 14 others and netted the goal which got Werder Bremen second place. Not bad eh?

At Hills borough people were crushed in a rush trying to get into the ground. (think you'll mean this one)

At Heysel, the stadium collapsed.

At Bradford, the old wooden stand caught fire and burned down.

Yup. My team is Bradford City, so its a sore spot in my clubs history. But we now have a world leading Burns treatment unit in Bradford saving and changing lives and due to the fire, UEFA, the British government and the FA, made many safety changes, which have doubtless led to other lives being saved. So a moment of bitter pride i guess you could call it.
