The Most Valuable Thing in the World

Compulsive Depression

This weekend is the most valuable thing in the civilised world... A Bank Holiday!

Three days off work. Hurrah *\o/*

What're people doing for it?
Spending time with loved ones?
Escaping from their loved ones?
Sleeping for 88 consecutive hours?
Slaying dragons?

The Spring Bank Holiday is especially good for me as it tends to fall within a few days of my birthday, so I'm off down to Londinivm to see my girlfriend, and go out for an Indian with her and some other friends. Mmm, curry :)

if you assume 'bank holidays' to metaphorically refer to any sort of day off from doing the usual drudgery...

[incl. but not limited to christmas, easter, melbourne cup, olympic games, australia day, new years, queen's bday, labour day, annual leave, school hols, sick leave, and weekends]

then, yes, bank holidays - cant live without them

in theory, yes... but some people are still gonna have to work over the weekend :(

I say happiness is pretty sweet. I mean, really, everything else you might say you like really boils down to you liking it 'cause it makes you happy, right? And being happy with oneself must mean that you're just generally happy. So, therefore, THAT one is obviously the logical answer!

Pretty awesome logic, neh? ;)

I disagree. The most valuable thing in the world is lemon meringue pie.

But which is better, lasting world peace or lemon meringue pie? Obviously the pie. Why? Because nothing is better than lasting world peace, and lemon meringue pie is better than nothing.

QED.

Of course nothing beats masturbation.

perhaps, in order to discover the most valuable thing in the world, one has to use logic. thus, logic is the most valuable thing in the world since it is the only thing that can be used to discover the most valuable thing in the world, which is itself.

Ah, but if you're arguing backwards, then wouldn't 'emotion' be the most valuable thing in the world? Look at animals, for example. I would hardly consider a dog capable of 'logic' thoughts, really, and yet they can be some of the happiest creatures on the planet. This goes to show that logic is not a necessity for happiness, which is undoubtably the most valuable thing in the world, as I described earlier.

So, the poll shows that most folks who vote here are too dim to understand what value actually is..

if happiness is the most valuable thing in the world, then, well...
gawdamit you've got me stumped
i can only think of stupid points about materialism
but in order to get happiness, you must also...erm..nope - you pretty much just have to be happy

but you need to be logical (fine, or intuitive) to discover you are happy
whats the point of being happy if you don't realise it?

Leaving aside the debate 'aboot' whether or not we have faith in Her --

Technically speaking, the poll asks "What is the most valuable thing in the world?", not "What is the most valuable thing, period?". As God is generally agreed not to be a worldly object/being/nexus/computer, we move on to more earthly objects.

Thus, I'll have to go with lemon meringue pie.
