I want it to be fast, and i know that a gb of RAM is good. But i dont know anything about processors. It has a 2.0 Ghz processor, is that fast enough to run games like Battlefield Two or Halo?
Does anyone have this comp? Its a gateway, so itll probably be good, but if anyone has one let me know how it is.
The processor's easily adequate for older games like Halo, but your bottleneck is going to be that video card.

Yup. Save up and buy a good card! Makes all the difference!

could the processor run newer games like bf2?
whats the problem with the video card?it runs directx9.0
The interesting thing about AMD's processors, and nowadays Intel's as well, is that thay aren't about gigahertz and clockspeeds. They're about processing efficiency. The "3800" in the name tells you that it is "as fast" as a comparable Intel processor that has a clockspeed at 3,8 gigahertz.
AMD's processors do more per clock cycle than do Intel's. So, don't get hung up on the "speeds."

1) The problem with the video card is that it will be a bottleneck.
2) Yes: the processor could run* newer games like bf2.
Don't you believe what you've been told already?
*No idea how quickly, mind; and you’d need all sorts of other stuff like memory chips, a hard drive, some cables, a motherboard, oh and errm a PSU and .... phew ... it’d probably be easier trying to run newer games like bf2 on a computer.

Indeed. A 3800+ X2 is actually quite good. A gig of ram is alright, though save up after you buy it, and get another gig in the near future. Luckily ram is addable easily.
The card is crap. Gforce is bad, a 6100 is crap. I would buy from somewhere else, too.

The processor is easily fast enough. It recently was quite warm out, and I underclocked my PC because it was too hot (idling at 50C:eek:) I was at 1.3GHz (dual core, like the processor in question) and was able to play BF2 fine with iTunes playing music in the background.
The card is slow, and therefore won't be able to play at very high resolution. It is also shared memory, which means that it will steal your RAM. Games that are out today would be completely unplayable because the card is too slow (despite the rest of the computer being up to snuff). If you are playing games, extra RAM and a better videocard is going to go further than a better processor.

Im gonna get another gig of RAM, and he said older games like halo. Sorry, i jsut dont want to blow my money if it wont work. And i was jsut wondering about the video card cuz i run BF2 and COD2 on my dads comp with a Ge Force 5200 card.
thank you, youve all been very helpful!

For one thing, it shares only 128MB of RAM.
A dedicated video card is much better for playing games.
I don't have one on my home pc, so...arrgghh!
Although I liked my old pc with Nvidia cards, most people say they are crap, so get ATI or something else.

I would recommend a Nvidia. The more mature drivers are less buggy and crash-less.
