Why I am in awe of God.

There are so many conveniences that we of the developed world enjoy that we usually take for granted.

But when it comes down to it, there are so many great things about everyday objects, along with recreational items, that were produced by brilliant men and women, so brilliant that I am in awe of how God can put a mind with such beauty to share into a simple person.

For example, the music of Beethovan, Mozart, and other such composers. Listen to each note the next time you hear their music. Think of how much thought was put into each single note. Think how Beethovan was deaf when he composed the music, think of how young Mozart was. It can bring a tear to your eye.

If music isn't your cup of tea, let's look at paintings and sculptures made by people like Michealangelo or Davinci. Look at each brushstroke, the texture, the richness in color, the lines, the accuracy. You are just taken aback by it.

If you aren't into the arts, there are many other things that you use everyday, but don't appreciate the beauty of the minds of their inventors. For example, Thomas Edison. Here is a man who made over 1,000 inventions, of which, the light bulb was most important. It allowed for more efficiency and more productivity in a shorter amount of time so you could relax, create, and learn. The remarkable simplicity of such an important object, it is incredible.

Or you can think of the philosophers and leaders, men like Aristotle, Socrates, Plato, Cicero, Locke, Washington, Lincoln, Martin Luther King, and Reagan, women like Anthony and Elizabeth I. These people, although you may sometimes disagree with them, are what shaped the world we live in today.

As Louis Armstrong once sang, "...And I think to myself...what a wonderful world..."

Those are reasons to be in awe of man, or maybe just some redeeming traits that make up for the genocides, racism, sexism, willfull ignorance, and the many other drawbacks of this species.

Oh, I do not discredit atheists to be idiots. I know many brilliant atheists. The only thing I don't like about them is their beliefs, but as a person, they are just like me.

God is an asshole of infinite proportions.

People can choose whether or not they will use their talents for good. That is their choice. But I believe God is the one who gives them the talents to use for what they see fit.

Did I actually say "God made Beethovan compose his 9th Symphony!"? No, I simply said he gave the talent to Beethovan, and Beethovan decided to use it for good.

Although how he could of used it for bad, I don't know. Maybe he could beat someone to death with a piano???

I believe in the free will of people. I believe people choose what they shall do. I give them the credit for what thay do. However, I give credit to God for their talents.

I believe individual responsibility is something that must be rediscovered.

Wouldn't it be far more accurate to say that genetics gave people their talents? Furthermore, doesn't the claim that God gives people their talents ultimately mean that God gives people their disabilities? Doesn't it mean that God makes many people naturally inclined to depression or suicide? Doesn't it mean God makes people chemically prone to violence? Doesn't it mean that God makes people mentally unstable?

If you say that genes make people the way they are, physically at very least, then you eliminate the morality of both having talent and having disabilities. When it's random chance, there is no one to blame and no one to praise. No one can make one in a million sperm happen to fertilize one in a million eggs that just happen to form a person with chemical imbalances in their brain. If you take out the credit, you eliminate the good and evil from the situation, and leave it the meaningless and arbitrary thing it is. This is one where the existentialists are right, despite all their other faults. We are who we are due to random chance, no one to thank, no one to blame. We must accept this reality, for it is the only way we can assign true meaning to our lives.

I'm still happy when people appreciate the beaty of this world at least ever once in a while. When you forget all the bad things your mind is at rest and you're child-like innocent. That's pretty cool! :p

All inspiration comes through God. Athiests do not have imaginations... :P

Why diminish an athiests ability to have inspiration and imagination because they do not believe in god? I assure you, many who hold athiests viewpoints still view all of the same wonders of the universe in awe and wonder and feel many of the same emotions just as powerfully as those who believe these wonders were created.

Wow. I guess we must then also believe that God gave John Wayne Gracy the talent to dress up like a clown and sexually torture young children to death.
What an awesome God!

personally, I'm in awe of God. He's done nothing for 000's of years yet still has simpletons crediting Him with every good thing ever done and never taking the blame for anything bad. What a cruisy job. Almost like being in politics.

I fully agree with this one.

I personally don't believe in God...And well I think hes a douchebag by the way people talk about him...
He loves me as his own child yet if I don't do what I'm supposed to them I go to hell...
Gosh if I did everthing I was supposed to I wouldn't have any fun in life and I wouldn't be an individual..

God sucks the fun out of life. I'm all for getting drunk and swearing and having a one night stand. Any person that interferes with that is no cool in my book and sooo off my buddylist.

If "God" actually existed, I would be in unbelievable awe of her/it/him, but I cant' say I would particularly like her/it/her.

But, you know, seeing as her/it/him doesn't exist, it's not much to worry about.
