A good buddy once said, "If everybody traveled the way we do, we wouldn't be able to do it anymore." Since then, I have done less of encouraging westerners to come to Asia, but of course, I still feel that travel is the best thing a person can do with one's self. So then, a survey of which countries you've experienced (and maybe any relevant notes):

I've spent a total of a year and four months in Japan, and the rest of my life in the Northeastern United States. Japan's nice, although I find the Tokyo area too crammed together. I love the mountains in central Japan. I am planning on visiting England this summer and more of Europe the summer after that.

On the other hand my girlfriend has been to: Kenya, India, Colombia, Venezuela, China, England, Italy, France, and Canada. (I have to say this cause she's here telling me to) She is visiting Kenya, Canada and England this summer, and is going with me to more of Europe next summer.

My travel guru, a former roommate from when we were in undergrad, is a serbian guy with a PhD from Japan at 31 and has been to nearly a hundred countries!...including Afganistan, August '01, Iraq, summer '02, and back to those countries again since, with other trips to Iran, and well, 90-some more..

I wouldn't think the typhoon season would hit Nepal all that much. It's too inland, isn't it?

As for me, this year I've been to:
New Zealand, Macau, China and Tibet. And Hong Kong. I'm tossing up whether to go to Italy for Summer or just stay here, do some summer camp teaching and pay off my student loan.

in no order whatsoever:
New Zealand (both islands, mostly south though and particularly otago. i love nz, i really want to go back)
Canada (nova scotia and prince edward island, going to quebec this summer cuz my mum's running the quebec marathon)
US (LA and san fransisco, may be going to boston as part of quebec trip)
Germany (all over, i particularly liked dresden, munich, cologne and berlin)
France (many times and all over, especially loire valley and brittany. also like the limousin area, and nice)
Cyprus (paphos area, village called Lemba doing archaeological work on a neolithic site about 10km in land from there. i would love to live in cyprus)
Potugal (mainly monchique in the hills of the algarve - really nice place and i love the food mmmm... piri piri chicken and fresh bbq sardines)
Fiji (saw nothing outside the resort and the coral was brown - i hate resort holidays)
been all over britain, my favourite places are the lake district, scottish highlands, edinburgh and devon.

edit: oo and i've been to holland and predictably went up in smoke for a week.

My international travel is quite a bit less, but deceptive in that I've travelled quite a bit in the two of the three foreign countries I've visited. I've lived in Japan 15 years and travelled extensively (more than half the prefectures). I've visited Mexico numerous times (more than I can count, including a 1 month homestay as a university student) and have seen about 1/3 of the states. I also spent two weeks in South Korea (not extensive).

Well, I couldn't figure out how long I'd have to visit someplace to say I've "been there", so I qualified my answers. In no particular order:

Places I've lived: USA, Kenya, Sierra Leone, Malaysia, Botswana, Italy, Belgium, Zambia, France.

Places I've visited for one week (or more) at a time: Morocco, the Seychelles, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Egypt, Namibia, Germany, Switzerland, England, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Singapore.

Places I've visited for less than one week at a time: Mexico, Cote d'Ivoire, Tunisia, Liberia, Malawi, Tanzania, Mozambique, Denmark, Spain, Vatican City, Austria, Ireland, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia.

I don't know if I would really say I've been to a country when I've only been to a select few cities in it. I'm more likely to actually name the cities, in all honesty.
