rock is on a terrible decline, since the late 90s possibly even before that.

Pop music has never been great, but yes it probably is getting worse. Personally, I prefer heavy metal.

That song did nothing for me personally. I'm not a big fan of growling lyrics. Despite what many people think, it actually takes a LOT of skill to do well, though. Just not my thing.

Pop hasn't just been getting crappier; it's been crappy for years. It's not just pop, either, but any of the other musics pedaled by the music industry beefed up with drum machines, music videos, trendy images, etc. I stay away from pop, rock, metal, rap, and so on. It's all just commercialized nonsense intended to milk us. I could go on for days if I wanted to, but I don't intend to here.

I really couldn't agree more. I pretty much hate rap about as much as the next person, pop doesn't really sound so cool anymore and rock is only good because of the beats its made in todays world.

A lot of indie is quite good if you do some digging. Or even some of the more mainstream bands, like New Pornographers and Architecture in Helsinki.
