Apparently a working majority of them. MU did the actual deed. They probably picked him for the job because he's one of the few Mods who ever had a good word to say about me.

The last straw seems to have been me letting myself be provoked by an insulting post by Satanist Big Jim P, who, oddly enough :rolleyes:, did not draw any Mod attention himself. Anyway, BJP attacked me for "stupidity." I replied, "Satanists calling anyone stupid is a whole new world of cauldrons calling kettles black." Poor persecuted Satanists all over NSG seem to have taken offense to this. And since I already had 5 warnings (one of which should have been withdrawn, the basis for imposing it was later overruled), the anti-NM faction among the Mods prevailed on the rest and got their latest hide nailed to the barn door.

I sent a message to MU when I first found I'd been whacked (not knowing he was the one responsible), criticizing the lack of warning, or any mention at all for that matter, of me being deleted. He then replied and basically said I'd pushed the limits once too often. Not hard to do these days, Mods seem to be looking for the most trivial of reasons to impose warnings. It's not like I pulled a Drunk Commies Deleted (and even that drew an extreme response). Mere snarky remarks seem to be sufficient for this bunch lately.

I think the mods need to take more account of the fact that NSG is -- or was -- a community. A functional and healthy one in spite of the flaming and spam and trolling. Banning people who contribute in important ways to the community and all the wacky and weird ways it functions, the amusing sideshows, the village idiots, the literate trolls, the insane spammers, is not a way to foster a healthy community. Plus, people are always going to be offended by something, and the best solution is more often than not just to tell people to grow a thicker skin.

I mean, banning porn and graphic images, sure. Death threats and making a complete arse of yourself in similar unpleasant ways, fine. Editing swear words out of thread titles and giving people forumbans because "he called me a poopy head!"? No fucking point.

I've always tried not to be a whiner. I've told the Mods that much numerous times. If I'd tattled to Moderation every time some leftie loser flamed me, NSG would have been depopulated years ago. Maybe that was my mistake--I could have pre-emptively had my enemies deleted.

I'll be back, don't worry. I'm just taking time off before my return. Also working on a detailed response to issues raised in my last post that I didn't answer before my untimely demise. As for NSG being 90+% leftist, I take pleasure from recognizing how incredibly unrepresentative that bunch is. In the real world, at least in the US, over 40% now self-identify as conservatives, which is more than self-identified moderates and almost twice as many as self-identified liberals. So my views are a lot closer to being representative of mainstream American views than the NSG lefties.

Its not like there are other sites that allow the range of net behaviour like full on sweary attacks. NSG has always had posters who have a hard on for yelling 'ad hominem' at the slightest jest...such is life.
