Killer

Killer is a game at my school where kids run around the city shooting each other with fake guns. There are complicated rules about all sorts of issues, such as whether it is ok to shoot make a kill on school property to how many witnesses are allowed to view the kill. Anyway, one kid at in my grade was apparently arrested for breaking and entering into someone else's home to make a kill. School officials are looking to suspend both students (it is school policy to suspend people caught playing the game) and one student is apparently facing criminal charges (he is seventeen).

So my question to you is have you heard of it/played it? (poll coming)

I believe that the game was referenced in Dave Barry's novel.

How ghetto

Not really. It's primarily played by rich white kids who have way too much time on their hands, and think of complicated ways to stalk their opponents.

Oh, and there are large cash prizes (this year rumored to be in the range of over a couple thousand dollars) to the winner, as well as taunting rights.

How ghetto

You ever been in a real ghetto?

I have, and I assure you that when someone sneaks into another person's house they aren't playing a game, and any gun they're carrying is unlikely to be fake.

We played a game called assassin. No prizes or anything like that. Basically everyone in the game was assigned a name of another player, who they then had to 'assassinate'. Things likethread set across doorways, that if the target broke would count as set off an explosion, etc. When you 'assassinated' your target, they gave you the name of their target. You won the game when the name you received was your own.

Never heard of it but it reminds me of "Happy Slapping". In case you don't know Happy Slapping is when a group of assault someone while videotaping it to show to their friends. Horrible I know, just like that Killer thing.

I played assassins like AB Again, while in boarding school. But school building and lesson time were safe zones, in order to still learn something and not get unwanted attention from teachers.
Why the school seeks to suspend people for activities not happening, at least evidenced, on school grounds and not during school time, escapes me. They should stick to their part and let the education rest with the parents otherwise.

That game's been around for years. I tried to play it once but it was too much hassle.
I've even seen a movie about it. Someone took it to the extreme of actually killing in that film.
That would be the movie Gotcha! (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089222/) where the game is called, wait for it...Gotcha! but they use low pressure paint pellet guns. The climax is back on ER/Revenge of the Nerds Anthony Edwards' home turf where he was the king of Gotcha!...

Cable when it was new kinda sucked a little...I could do this about Nicole Kidman's early classic BMX Bandits, too...

Played it once in college - I had fun being the mad bomber. My best one was when I managed to bribe a pizza delivery guy into delivering a "pizza bomb".

I suspect it was Tag: The Assassination Game (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084756/).

Bested! Gotcha, which was three years after the movie you described, had some sort of spy bullshit thing in the story, so you're probably right. I've never heard of Tag and I don't know if I should be proud or sad...

I looked at your Location and all was clear.
The Admin and Feds for obvious reasons don't like the game.
I watched a CSI New York episode similiar to that except a guy died by getting 'shot' at close range by a gun firing blanks, but the force turned his inards to jelly.

I saw that one. The only game of killer I've ever played is the Pool version.
