yup, and its not really worth it yet. there's not much in the way of HD stuff to watch... digital TV looks good though.

very good quality though... nice and big and vibrant, and widescreen (about a zillion times better than my old tv, even if the dvds are the same resolution)

At the moment I've got no more than a few hundred dollars available to me, and come next fall, the university will take all of the money I accumulate over the summer, so, I don't plan on purchasing anything even remotely resembling an HDTV. I will steal my parents old color TV though.

That's the finest joke option I've seen in sometime. Kudos to you, good sir.

And no, I don't own a HDTV.

Own a 62" HD TV and its awesome. Perhaps too good. You can see bad acne, female moustaches and other ungodly blemishes that really kinda hurt the illusion of star perfection. Baseball games simply look incredible and ytou can see individual blades ofd grass in the infield and i cant wait for football to be in HD

I don't think football will benefit all that much from HD. If I remember correctly, hockey benefits the most (little black puck is hard to follow in low res.), then baseball...

Great question.. An explanation would be nice.Just a TV with a higher resolution. A similar comparison would be a 640*480 res to a 1280*960 res. However, there is very little available in HDTV format in europe at the moment. Hence it's not worth buying one until the format becomes more widely available. I think Sky plans on broadcasting in HDTV format quite soon.

I wouldn't bother with anything smaller than my 42" Sony WEGA, but on that size or above, absolutely. There's not as much content as I'd like, but it's getting there. HBO, Showtime, and the Discovery Channel look fantastic in HD, and my local networks and Public station round it out enough. I'd love 20 more channels.

BTW, I'm not an American football fan except in HD. It really does make a difference. Even baseball is almost interesting in HD.

Sounds like we've got the same unit.

Football in HD is fantastic when the networks do it right. Glorious even. It even makes NASCAR watchable. The news might actually be worse, it kind of looks creepy when you can see all the makeup. One guy in particular looks as if someone dug up his corpse and painted it to look like a whore. Disconcerting to say the least.

Any sport is MUCH improved by a competent HD presentation. But I've got plenty of content (7 local HD channels, plus a handful of HD cable channels), including a DVD player which does upconversion, which, on a nice DVD, looks fantastic.

In the arena of consumer electronics I've found that it's almost always best to wait as absolutely as long as you can. Nothing wrong with being able to save $500 on that nice 1080p DLP number with extra HDMI inputs, CARDS and an HD tuner.

To continue, or over explain, really...

"Standard TV" is at @720*480 no matter how big the screen gets. This was the standard way back when TV was invented and people would say things like "Why one day, tvs will be 15 inches"...

So when you'd get to the bigger tvs something was kinda off.

It was that the signal standard hadn't changed, like ever.

So now HD(high definition), which is 1080*720 (the last number I'm not so up on.)
