Germany welcomes sheep-killing immigrant

Moral of the story: It's okay to kill sheep and damage farm property in Germany if you're an immigrant. :-)

A wild bear is roaming the German countryside for the first time since 1835, police in the Bavarian Alps say.

Seven sheep carcasses were found in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on Sunday, confirming the bear had entered Germany across the nearby Austrian border.

The bear was last spotted on Thursday in a border area in Austria after destroying a beehive.

The region's environment minister said the bear was "welcome in Bavaria" and told people they had nothing to fear.

My first half was sarcastic.
My second half was not.

The morale?

Am I the only person who thinks this 'bear' looks suspiciously like a man in a suit?

Oh excellent. Maybe it'll breed or something. If there's one thing Germany needs right now, it's more Europeaness.

Well, I don't think that's an image of that particular bear.

Also, I haven't found any stories in German. Maybe it's just not that big a deal...:p

With the caption "Wild bears once roamed widely across much of Europe".

I have found a number of news articles in German now, and one of them has a picture, with the caption "the only picture taken of the bear so far", from the 20th of May.

But whatever the case may be, I think we all know what a bear looks like. :D

Oh right. I hate it when the the media do that - put a photo with a story but not make it clear that actually the photo is just a random one they've found in the archives.

To be honest, I'm not particularly enthusiastic about this. Central Europe isn't what it used to be: The ecosystems and environment have changed. It's hard to predict what exactly will happen when the bears come "back" to an environment they never lived in. Maybe they will hunt sheep for food... ;)

But hard if there is only one of them...

Or maybe it is a special bear capable of reproduction by cell division?

Oh. My. Fucking. God.

Never let politicians decide anything. Especially if they're from the CSU. In fact, how about we take democracy out of Bavaria and make it a protectorate?
