Well... the US bit of Cuba anyway.

There've been clashes at Gitmo between the guards and some inmates who used impromptu weaponry to fight of the guards who tried to stop some prisoners killing themselves.

"Minimal force" was used to subdue the mini-riot, or so I hear from the news.

Why are they preventing the prisoners' suicides? Seems to me if all the prisoners killed themselves the whole Guantanamo issue would go away.

Probably because the UN would go mental if people were dropping dead from suicides, plus the US Army would have to put some effort into finding some more bystanders to put into Gitmo, and I hear they're rather busy.
