I want to kill the designers of Perfect Dark

God in heaven, this game is driving me crazy.

I love playing games. I play a lot of games. I am at least average in my skills and consider myself to have a modicum of appreciation for what makes a good game. When I got my Xbox360 I thought: Of course I'll get Perfect Dark. Of course.

Now, I'm starting to wish I hadn't.

GODDAMN IT, RARE!!! Okay, so I understand the concept of learning curve. I appreciate my foes have good AI, the game will get harder as it goes on etc. Thats what has so far made the good bits of the game good.

Now, there is jungle storm, level 7. First section - 1 player, with a grenade crazy and utterly incompetent ally, versus whole army. Equipped with 1 inadequate SMG and 2 inaccurate pistols. Fine. Protect a huge target that every enemy, regardless of distance and amount of foliage can hit? Fine. done. Complete. It took many goes, but okay, thats what makes a game good, you have to push. Even if my ally kills me at least as much as the ludicrously numerous and well equipped enemies.

But FFS, I have tried to pass the rest of the level eighteen times. I know exactly where all the enemies will appear- it's okay if I can hit them with a minimal of effort, I know they're there. But if I can't spot a goddamn enemy through a jungle using a scope, scanner or random hail of bullets, it sure as hell shouldn't be possible for the enemy to do so! They don't know where I'm gonna be, they haven't had eighteen attempts! Come on Rare!

Oh, and a mission to rescue a useless goddamn pilot? When every third enemy for the remainder of the level carries grenades he (the pilot) will quite happily try to catch between his teeth? In the name of good gods, this is absurd. A game, a good game, should not contain a level utterly impossible to pass by a normal player on a normal difficulty setting! I'm good at games and I'm good at all the rest of this game - I should not be feeling like some goddamn n00b because on some cluttered, poorly designed jungle level your bots don't possess AI but instead hard coded targetting protocols that ignore cover, stealth or anything else that might intervene in their absurd accuracy!

Alright, rant over. Has anyone else had a problem like this with Perfect Dark or any other game? Misery loves company, believe me.

I guess the moral of the story is, don't expect one man to kill a whole army in a jungle just because he paid £30 to have a go.

The real moral should be "never buy an Xbox 360". I never play console games, so meh.

I only have Perfect Dark for the N64, which owns.

I think it should more likely be "never trust Rare"...

The last level of Farcry. You have to fight Kreiger, who's super-tough, armed with a p90 and an endless supply of grenades. Oh, and he can jump the entire room in a single bound and kill you with one swipe of his claw. Oh, and he can also turn himself invisible whenever he feels like it.

Still too easy? Your sidekick lies injured on the floor. Even the slightest touch of damage will kill her, which is hideously unfair when you consider the serious amount of grenades Kregier throws about. It also means that you can't use your missile launcher or your grenades.

And then they decided that it was still too easy, so gave Kreiger four of his elite guard to help him out.

Once you've that done (Which took me about fourty tries, mainly because my sidekick kept dying) you have to cross a valley filled three uber-acurate mutants with assault rifles (I could barely see them with full zoom on the sniper rifle and they were still hitting me with every shot) and fifteen Big Boys, who are giant mutants that take absolutely loads of damage and are all armed with missile launchers. You'll use all of your ammo taking them out.

Finally, you only have to fight sixteen elite guard who are armed with six missile launchers and ten combat shotguns. Normally, you'll only have the ammo you looted off the mutants (about twenty rounds) to accomplish this. Then you collapse in a heap, and realize that you've played the same level over and over again for about two days straight.

Dude, I beat Perfect Dark Zero like two days ago.

That level is easy, just use the machine gun that has the heat seeking device and just be sure to cover behind things, aim, then poke your gun out an open fire...nothing to it. I died like one time in the begining because they killed my ship....but then the night time I used a shotgun and just let em have it.

Its really not too bad. That heat vision secondary function that Machine gun does wonders...its the new version of the RCP 190 or something like that...I cant quit place the name. Everyones bodies come up in red. If you need anymore help, just let me know. :)
