I am in the process of being hired at that Hive of scum and villany, Walmart. I get 3 times as much pay in a week than I would in a month at my old job. Awesome :D.

I'm going shopping :D

More than tripling. It's a 12fold increase. 4 weeks in a month and so on.

Anyways, his previous pay would be well below minimum wage if he was telling the truth, so he's either making shit up or is an illegal immigrant.

I got paid 250$ a month while at college. 12 hours a week, 5.15

I now get 600$ a week. Not quite tripling, but I didn't count in overtime or benefits.

Now factor in the massively increased hours, which you neglected.

Also, $5.15 an hour? How long have you been unemployed? 10 years?

He said a week. Maybe he's managing the store rather than stocking the shelves. Are Sizzler restaruants still in existence?

He also said that he was tripling his income. If he was getting $600 a week he'd be taking in nine and a half times his current wage.

He also said that $600 a week is not quite triple $250 a month, but he hadn't calculated overtime, etc. Since $600 a week would be over 9 times as much money and $600 a month would fit better with the rest of his statements (i.e. not quite triple what he was making) leads to the conclusion that he is in fact making $600 a month and simply mis-spoke(typed).

Not an Eddie Murphy fan, I see...

(on the subject of cheap chain steak places, does Happy Steak still exist anywhere? I remember that as a kid in the mall...)

Yep--that's why I asked. And while going from $250 a month to $600 a month is indeed a lifestyle changing jump, it's still Wal-Mart quality money.

Well it wasn't all bad at first, still got some of the good stuff from the stomach, but then they invited all their friends and now I've got nothing. Lifes tough for us tapeworms, all them vaccines and dontations. Plus I've now gotta compete against other things like SARS and the Avien Brid flu for noteriety.

Well, you won't get much overtime at Wal-Mart--that's what they have salaried employees for. But enjoy it as much as you can. Like others on this thread, I've known what it's like to make jack shit for pay and eat ramen noodles 6 days a week (I splurged one day a week and ate mac & cheese), so I can commiserate.
