what are your thoughts on this? do you think its real or just people making stuff up? do you think the government should do something about this or we as a people should? do you think its too late to do anything significant about it?

All I'm gonna say on it is I fully believe the government knows more than it lets on.

I'd suggest you read everything you can from credible sources and then figure it out for yourself.
As a follow up, look for the names of scientists who conduicted the various studies you come across and then google them to see if they have something more recent. You'll find that a large number of scientists who originally wrote articles skeptical of global warming (more accurtately "climate change",) have changed their tune.
Also, when reading an article, especially one from a dedicated website, do a google search on that website and see what people have to say about where the money trail leads to/from.
Most of all, inform yourself, never trust the first source you find and be very very suspicious when an issue does not rebut a rebuttal but just turns back to their original argument or just ignores the rubuttal completely.
