John Hollenhorst reporting

When property manager Ryan Froerer got a call from a realtor last year to check on a townhouse, he knew something was up.

Ryan Froerer, Century 21: "Said it was the sickest thing he's ever seen. Just unimaginable that someone could live in that."

He couldn't even open the front door. It was blocked from inside.

Ryan Froerer, Century 21: "There was beer cans I would say probably this high up on the door."

The realtor had forewarned him about the smell.

Ryan Froerer, Century 21: "He poked his head in, the smell was so awful he couldn't go in. "

At the back door, Froerer was astounded by what he saw in the kitchen.

Ryan Froerer, Century 21: "As we approached the door, there were beer boxes, all the way up to the ceiling."

Inside, he took just a few snapshots to document the scene. Beer cans by the tens of thousands. Mountains of cans burying the furniture. The water and heat were shut off, apparently on purpose by the tenant, who evidently drank Coors Light beer exclusively for the eight years he lived there.

Ryan Froerer, Century 21: "It's just unbelievable that a human being could live like that. "

To all outward appearances, the person who lived in the townhouse was the perfect tenant. He always paid on time and he never complained. He kept a low profile in the neighborhood.

Kirk Martin, Letter Carrier: : "Yeah I never delivered any mail there at all. I thought the apartment was vacant."

The cans were recycled for 800 dollars, an estimated 70,000 cans: 24 beers a day for 8 years.

Froerer e-mailed his photos to a couple of friends, who sent them to friends. Now he's getting calls from faraway places

Ryan Froerer, Century 21: "It's amazing how the internet can have the effect and get around. I'm sure it's been around the world. "

The townhouse was cleaned up last year and it's just fine today.

The man who lived there seems to be back on his feet. We spoke to him today and he says he's completely stopped drinking. He was welcomed back to his old job a few months ago, and his co-workers speak highly of him.

A case of beer every day for eight years? I could do it if I didn't have to hold down a job.

So what? By the time my liver actually fails I should hope we would be able to clone me a new liver for transplant.

I think most light beers in the US are about 4% give or take a couple tenths of a percent.

you'll just have a 6 pack of livers in the fridges being kept cold by the beer

I'll need at least six. I'll probably end up using some for bizarre pranks and accidentally frying one up for dinner one day.

4.36%. OK, that's a fair effort, then.

That's pretty misleading - why is it called light beer when it has the same alcohol content as many of your regular beers?

Still a lot of alcohol over 8 years. If they're 440ml cans (16oz), that's 22 units of alcohol a day - about 6 times what you're meant to have.

In answer to the thread title - I could probably maintain 8 pints a day for a week or so, and I've managed 16 pints of Guinness in one St Paddy's Day before.

Edit: 4.36%? Ok, that would make it about 48-49 units a day. That's hardcore. Equivalent to 1.2 litres of 40% vodka a day.

according to this coors light has a higher alcohol percentage than yuengling, now that i find hard to believe

it takes me at least 6 coors light to get me even the slightest of drunk.

its more about the calories and whatnot than the alcohol content

lol, that's funny. Kind of like diet coke. I bet people have massive barbeques and pig out on hamburgers, feel guilty halfway through and stick to light beer to compensate. :p

Well, over here "light" beer refers to alcohol content.

Well, after looking it up...drinking light beer, you're saving ten calories a can.

It'd take about 12 cans to equal one small bowl of cereal with no milk. And probably upwards of 20 to equal a chocolate bar. I'd hardly be concerned.

That's one of the problems with AA. They spread the myth that if you drink alot you're an addict. No, drinking loads of alcohol doesn't automatically mean you're an addict.

Weather or not your addicted to alcohol a case a day is still going to screw with your liver, besides which I doubt that anyone can drink 24 beers a day for eight years and not be an alcoholic.

Guiness, not the best drink to get drunk on. I heard of someone who got iron poisoning from drinking that much it, granted I heard this story in a pub but that doent automatically mean its false.
