Boulder, CO gets a Hate Hot Line

I've heard this on the Neal Boortz show while running some errands. Apparently Boulder CO thinks free speech sucks when it comes to "Hate" speech. Which, to them ranges from the stuff KKK says to the jokes told around the water cooler. So what did they decide to do? Form a hotline where you can call in the "Hate" crime and something happens. No one is really clear on what happens once something is called in. Even ACLU is backing this up! Of course ACLU is as liberal as a commie, so I can't really be suprised by that. Anyways here's a story on it.

So what do yall think?

I think it's obvious that I am against it. I guess the people of Boulder CO are using the first amendment as toilet paper.

Learn to read, the ACLU has taken no position, and seems to be leaning against it if anything.

Our concern - and there are many - is that there is no confidentiality, no legal confidentiality," explains Judd Golden, chairman of the Boulder American Civil Liberties Union, which has not yet taken an official position on the hate-line. "So it's potentially chilling if people think they are providing this information in confidence and then that information were provided to the government or the government sought access to it. That would chill free speech."

You know, I would like to call into that line and just prank phone them all day long. Just provide useless information so that when they present it to the local, state or federal government, they look stupid.

Well we had one call from Mr. Black who hates the cold weather here in CO.

You're making several assumptions.
A - that we're all American. Personally, I live in FL right now, but am moving out of the country in late June. In which case, this won't affect me. So there goes that point.
B - that this will have some drastic effect on the nation. No offense meant, but it's Colorado. Not New York, or California, or Texas, or some other state far more influential in national politics. Moreso, it's one city in Colorado. The people of Tampa, FL are quite safe over here and refrain from using the First Amendment as toilet paper.
C - "Even ACLU is backing this up! Of course ACLU is as liberal as a commie, so I can't really be suprised by that." To begin, that's just blatantly wrong. And also, that CL stands for Civil Liberties. The ACLU would never support this. That's why they're mentioned.

And I take offense at that remark. I'm a liberal. Can I report you to the Hate Hotline now?

Sure and I'll report you because you being a liberal offends me.

Today it's one city out in the middle of no where. Tomorrow, half of the country.

No, but I'm still outraged by it because if this things get "good" reviews, then it'll start spreading to other cities and states.

America may be quickly reaching "on its last legs" status, but the average American is not such an idiot as imagined.

Another example of underhanded citizen-surveillance.

Where in the hell does it say that the ACLU is backing them up? your article even says they are nutral

Anyways besides your apparently borderline attempt to troll I agree that this is BS and a waste of public money.
