Steve Jobs and Apple Computer had been pressed for a while now to let the recording industry charge higher prices on ITunes. Jobs made it clear that he woudn't back down, even calling the other companies 'greedy' and 'shortsighted'.
I have to agree. Jobs knows, as most of us do, that the market for legally downoade music is still unstable and it wouldn't take much of a push to send millions of downloaders back to illegal free download sites.
99 cents a song is plenty.
