What's your favorite series of cars? Mine, hands down, is the Mercedes Benz 300 series (300TD,300SD, 300SD, etc). I have a 1980 300SD with 200k on the clock that runs like a champ and goes around 1200 miles on a tank of diesel :D . Plus it's cheap to run, great gas mileage, reliable, and it's SAFE with LOTS of room. I'll post pictures of mine later. She's a real head turner when clean.

The Mustang baby!

I am partial to the first series VW Buses, but not so much the later ones.

The top dog for me has to be the 911. Advertising slogan aside, there really is no substitute. It's the yardstick that all other cars are measured by.

Oooo, that's a tough question.

Do I go with the aforementioned 911 and 300 series? The Aston Martin DB? The Mustangs?

The ones that drive, get good gas mileage, and that can carry all my crap that I carry around.

OOohhh, E-Types...hard to argue with a car that's in the Smithsonian...I guess that the whole 'XK' line is pretty...well, pretty.

Especially the XKSS (http://www.dreamscar.com/images/normal/JaguarXKSS/jaguarXKSS.jpg)

I've gone to that for a couple of years, love it. The last time I was there a Ferarri 250 GTO battled it out with a Porsche 356 Abarth-it was fantastic. Second only to watching Hurley Haywood take a 914-6 GT from 10th to first in ten laps against Cobras, 'Vettes, 'Stangs, and a 911.

I run around like a little kid trying to see everything. It's a great event, The Trans-Am's they are finishing up with are awesome. My Aunt is a motor sports journalist, gets me a press pass and gives me tips on who to watch in each heat.

Nice.

Last year I was part of the Speed Channel crew for the Monterey Historics. The Trans-Am race (which will be this years theme) was the best. There was a guy in a 68 Camaro that wasn't going to let the Chapperal and the 70 Camaro run away with the race. Eventually he spun out of turn 11.

At that one, too, there was another 250 GTO story-this time a proto-type. I was watching the warm ups learning the cars I was supposed to spot (what a great freakin' job) and this GTO came flying through turn 4, drifting to the edge before launching down the straight. Pretty big contrast from the rich cats babying thier cars. I told the assistant director to watch the car come around again, and sure enough-smokin'. We looked on the entry sheet, it was being driven by Bobby Rahal.

You can always spot those that are, they're the guys going balls out.

not to denigrate your fave....they handle like shit..with all the rear weight bias....you have to finess it..which i apreciate...but really...too much work..now a 928...lovely car.

Just like a mid-engine car, you have to go into the turn different. Actually, it's better in general to treat the 911 like a mid-engine car. As it progressed through the years it got closer and closer to a 50-50 weight balance, and the bias give the 911 a great launch. As any racer will tell you, it's not how fast you go in, it's how fast you come out.

I fancy the Nissan series Sunny, lots of nice patches of rust, four cylincers, 1600 cc producing a huge 80 HP Stock! Good revving, great handling under the 100 km/h line, .55 l/10 km.... wow... mine's white:D

nothing tops the mustang...while 68 is the best year by far, I like the newer years, pulling in some of the grace of the 60's, while remaining distinct and modern. Really, one of the most longevic and versatile series.
