The Eurovison Song Contest (http://www.eurovision.tv/english/index.htm) is this week on these channels (http://www.eurovision.tv/english/1867.htm) the 18 of May ( Thursday ) and the 20 of May ( Saturday ).
In Athens, too! If any of you are actually interested where it is held.

The finalest songs are here (http://www7.nrk.no/nrkplayer/default.aspx?kategori_id=3344) - the site is in Norweigan - if you want to "spoil" seeing them for the first time. Everything is nice and compact in one window and that is why I link it. I found the site navigable for someone that cannot speak Norweigan, but there is a list of country names that do not resemble the English counterparts all that well below.

The site just crapped out on me... *scratches head* Anyone else having problems?

Sveits = Switzerland / Sverige = Sweden / Norge = Norway / Hellas = Greece / Tyskland = Germany / Estland = Estonia / Hviterussland = Belarus / Frankrike = France

To view the videos, click on the button that says "Ta Testa" and then "Lage" after the test has finished for all of you that cannot figure out quite what to do. A number should pop up that has something to do with your internet connection and I have not had any problems with NRK Nett-TV, so I would believe that everything ought to go smoothly.

Other than to propogate Eurovision, this thread can be used to discuss the schlagerfest.

Personally, I am rooting for the monsters of Finnish Lapland! Finland might not be last this year, Hallelujah!
One just has to love nationalism.
*schlagerfest = easy to listen to pop party

The only good thing about Eurovision is Terry Wogan.

Yesh. Nowadays we just have Finnish monsters (http://www.headbanger.hu/be/htdocs/updir/lordi.jpg), as mentioned. Radical.

There is more to it than monsters. Half naked Turks and English schoolgirls to name a couple.

my flatmates are busy organising a eurovision party. possibly with a drinking game where you drink every time wogan says something outrageous. never been too keen on eurovision myself, never watched it all the way thru either, but my flatmates rave about it and john peel used to like it too, so maybe i'll give it a shot this year.
