Probably already posted: Rove to be indicted?

So now we have the further involvement of Cheney, the possible indictment of Rove, and a record disapprovall rate for the President.

But I'm sure Bush supporters will just take this as another example of blind Bush hate. That's their story and they're sticking to it.

I've been hesitant on this story because there's been nary a peep anywhere else about it--there's only Leopold on this, and that's a hell of a story.

Of course, Fitzgerald has been really tight on his story this whole time (unlike Ken Starr, for example), so maybe there's something to it. I'll wait on the champagne until Fitzgerald calls the press conference.
Not bad

This is all the fault of the liberal media. They sure know how to kick a man while he's down. Bush's approval ratings drop and they start letting go with negative stories. If he had the sort of media support he got after 9/11 he would have better approval ratings, but the press seems to have fallen into pre-9/11 thinking, and that's bad for everyone.

Record disapproval means nothing.

Polls are just a measure of what people are thinking in reality, and everyone knows reality has a liberal bias...

There's been nothing but negative stories out there for several years. Where have you been?Actually, there were nothing but positive stories for most of the last five years, especially after 9/11. It's only been in the last year or so that the press got their cojones back. Besides, he hasn't done much of anything right in the last five years for there to be much in the way of positive stories--the press was really having to stretch (and still does, in many cases) to make him look like anything other than a blithering idiot.

And it worked--they helped get him re-elected, after all.

Near as I can tell, this story hasn't even hit the "liberal media" yet. It's not on CNN, LA Times, NY Times Washington post, no one but Truth Out is reporting this which makes me wonder...

In anycase, if it does happen then it belongs on teh front page with big headlines. He was the Deputy White House Chief of Staff. If he gets indicted it's a huge story.

Let's also remember here that the prosecutor, Fitzgerald, is a Republican appointed to his post by G. W. Bush and that another Republican, ex-director of the CIA, name escapes me at the moment, asked for this investigation. This is not in any way a Democratic conspiracy or a fabrication of the press. This is Republicans going after Republicans.

James Comey is the name you're looking for, and he was appointed by Ashcroft after he recused himself from the investigation.

Yes, Ashcroft appointed him to do the investigation, but Bush appointed him to his position as a Federal prosecutor. Yeah, Comey's the guy.

Seriously? If people were just fabricating information wouldn't that be both slanderous and libelous? Wouldn't the Bush administration already have used the DOJ to sue the hell out of them? The point is, all of the "bad press" they get is due to their own behavior. It's not as if these people are making up stories and lying, they are just reporting the information. Isn't that their job? A free press is the guardian of democracy, not the mouthpiece for the establishment. Watch and learn as more indictments come down the pike. The emperor has no clothes and a wrinkly arse.

Except this hasn't caught any mainstream credibility and suing someone is horribly expensive. Somehow I doubt that truthout.org has a lot of money to be sued for, and if it's not true than it will be largely irrelevant within the next month and TO will look like a bunch of morons. If it is true than there really isn't any point to suing anyway. This is an article with a very short shelf life one way or the other, and pushing a lawsuit over it would be rather stupid and wasteful.

Not to mention that the federal government has almost no protection against libel or slander. Just being a public figure is bad enough in that regard, but when you're the government you have no refuge. Which is exactly how it should be and exactly like the founding fathers wanted it. The Firts Amendment has been held to protect most kinds of speech, but it's main purpose is inarguably to protect political speech.

Any president with a pulse would have approval ratings go up after 9/11. That was not exactly when the masses were at their most rational.

Hrm ...
On Monday, a reporter asked the senior Bush aide about former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan’s earlier statement in which he said Rove had told him he had no involvement in the leaking of Plame’s identity. Rove dodged the question, referring the reporter to his lawyer’s public statement issued after his recent grand jury testimony. “Nice try, though,” Rove said, with a faint smile.
Yeah, nice try.
"I think if you're gonna make an accusation in the course of a presidential campaign, you out to back it up with facts."

Meanwhile, others have noted changes in Rove’s appearance. Over the last year, the senior Bush aide has dramatically slimmed down, losing an estimated 50 pounds. While some have speculated that stress could be the cause, Rove told a National Journal reporter last month that he’s been dieting and working out with Bolten at the White House gym.
That would be three reasons:
One - his direct feed of loyalty and sympathy from the public is waning, and he has to feed himself more sparsely.
Two - the kidney stone thing required an adjustment in diet.
Three - he thinks Bolten is a hottie.

I was disturbed by the idea of the two of them working out in the same room. Its hard to think of any sight that would be more bizarre while still being grounded in reality.
