Interesting... but why scary to fundies...

after all, they can claim that God created those microbes to produce energy for us to use, thus providing proof that God exsists and is providing alternative energy to ween us away from those heathens in the middle east...

wait... that took imagination to come up with... and we are talking about Fundies here... scratch that, I didn't say anything... *whistles innocently*

You know you'll be quoted by thousands of penticostal and southern baptist churchs as science supporting creation during sunday sermons, right?

let them come up with their own proof of God. either that, let em ask for permission. :D

They don't believe in asking for permission. God is the only authority.

Awesome...what are they going to do when no one wants to use oil anymore? It's coming, and I can't wait until it happens. Even more amusing, it's powered by science and evolutionary theory in this case.

Science!

Science rules! (*requisite chorus of "Bill Nye: The Science Guy!"

I do ask, however, the question of how much electricity this could provide, and whether it is practical for actual energy use. We may be seeing barely enough to power a flashlight here.

Ah but if God proves he exists then He is nothing. Let me demonstrate.

God-"I refuse to provide proof of my existence, because proof denies faith and without faith I am nothing."
Man-"But these electricity generating microbes prove your existence. And as such I no longer need faith to know of your existence."
God-"Oh, I hadn't really thought of that." *At which point God promptly pops out of existence*

I don't quite understand why fundies ask for so much proof of science that the only way to really convince them is to have a video camera record the phenoma/explanation (and often times it'll take them decades or longer to actually accept it).

Yet when they see something in the Bible they accept it automatically.

Not necessary. For the Bible does not say Evolution didn't exsist. there are Christians out there who do believe in Evolution as the "how" God created everything.

They will however rally against the changing of the Bible. do you want them to change sides and actually work with the Fundies?

I was using Neocons because they are:

A) Allied politically with evangelical/fundamental Christians.

B) Close ties to the oil industry.

c) A history of opposing science for political/ideological reasons.

What science does neconservatism oppose and for which ideological reasons?

...making a celebrity deathmatch between science and religion...
oh God! will it never end!
Let me remind everyone that if those two are fighting over your head you neither understand science or religion.
Why does it happens? Partial knowledge! people who doesnt know much about a subject try to connect it with another subject he doesnt know either and messes up. Then says either of them is wrong, but in truth he is just dazed because he is too lazy and stupid to open and read a lot, listen and think a lot before trying to connect dots.
Im not a genious but over years things add over and over I got a clearer picture. For those who wont endure what it takes to learn it will be forever an ignorance maze of frustration. :headbang: :p

Unless that's the "false attribution vis a vis" the 'Bushies.'

Because 'Bushie' is George and Laura's shared term of endearment (thank you Barbara Walters, thank you).

I'm just saying.

as for neocons, spilling blood is sin and any who advocates it is sinner in any religion. You can only defend your country when attacked, the fear of being attacked does not give you right to kill! Those warmongers feed the fear, let terror grow and hurt people so that they will find any inhumane act acceptable and obey them willingly. Playing with human feelings easier than our classic 1984 distopia big brother approach.
Watch the news, phone companies provided information to goverment willingly so it doesnt break any laws. Its same trick everywhere you americans will be tricked. People will hate you like they did to USSR, because they fear you they will look for means to destroy you.

And if still no one got the conenction of neocons and energy of threah you are either sleepy or hopeless! Your soldiers are dyind along other people because of oil. Real independence is not being dependend on other countries natural resources, by using technology like spending your extra 300billion military budget you could have got endless free and nature friend energy in your lands and could have even sold the extra for a better life! Instead of making your leaders rich over you, who will not lower petrol prices from their level even after getting oil and tenfold their profits.

Do you need a citation to determine if the sky is blue? Tell you what, find me a Neo-Con or related think-tank that DOESN'T oppose the theories of Evolution and Climate Change. Find one that supports stem-cell research. Come on, the internet is a wide open resource. Pick one at random and read on.

I think to group neo-conservatives with fundamentalist Christians is quite an error. They are two groups whose interests don't exactly align all that often. The FC's are big time social conservatives, and tend to like humanitarian programs abroad (the current anti-human trafficking push has their strong support) while NC's tend to be moderate to liberal on social issues for various reasons. They also have a habit of being Jewish, which really doesn't mesh well with the FC message. Abroad they tend to like military force, and discount most soft-power efforts. Of course, most of the NC's have been pushed out of their positions of influence. Realists (Cheney, Rumsfeld) have taken back the ideological orientation of the Republican party's foreign policy once again, after a short period of acquiesence to the NC's.

You realize you're saying that two of the signatories to the NC's primary treatise on military means being used to democratize the mid-east are the realists?

Might I suggest that they're realists only in the sense that it finally got through the thick skulls of these two card-carrying neoconservatives that if they don't pull back from their ideologically driven policies, they can realistically expect they won't have either career or respect by which to push their goals in future.

Cheney and Rumsfeld, for all intents and purposes, pre-date neoconservatism.

They are old-school military-industrial-complex bosses, and not in any sense neoconservative 'true believers' or intellectuals. Wolfowitz, Perle, Feith &al lost their jobs.
