Mentally Ill Toorps Into Battle?

Well, they have sunk to a new low. Now they are sending wounded troops back into battle. These troops have no business in a battle zone. They should be back in the US being cared for. They have fought for us and they deserve to be treated for their injuries. Whoever gave the order to do this should be brought up on charges of manslaughter at the very least, possibly murder.

I guess it wasn't enough to cut the funding for veteran's affairs they'll just try to have fewer veterans to care for. :sniper:

What's the link with mentally ill troops though?

They have to die before it can be murder, i would have thought...
Wounded soldiers have often been sent back into battle.

Say what? Care to post anything to support this? Or have you simply pulled it from where the sun don't shine?

"Each soldier was then issued an AR-15 rifle, three clips of NATO 7.62 mm rounds"

You have to appreciate the fact that the ammunition and rifle are incompatable. :D

This is not a false post. Please follow the link to the story

Not the onion. No this one is for real. They are doing it against their own rules. Thye have even give anti-depressants to troops without doctors orders.

Yes, Yes The Onion is hilarious. But don't you think this is a rather serious subject to be taken so lightly? They are killing these guys.

“Your average commander doesn’t want to deal with a whacked-out soldier. But on the other hand, he doesn’t want to send a message to his troops that if you act up, he’s willing to send you home,” said Maj. Andrew Efaw, a judge advocate general officer in the Army Reserves who handled trial defense for soldiers in northern Iraq last year.
Unfortunatly that sums it up, they might all try and 'buy a ticket home' bit like in Nam as i've heard/read where getting VD etc was a ticket home and malaria-Troops weren't forced to take thier pills.

The US is desperate for troops i guess.

You've reminded me about something else...

A ha. That's what you're on about.

It might have helped if you'd actually put those links in when you posted the OP.

Sorry. I thought everyone would have heard about the story by the time I posted. Yes, well, now that you are sober don't you think it has to be one of the most dispicable things you have heard about?

This part is rather scary...
Some service members who committed suicide in 2004 and 2005 were kept on duty despite clear signs of mental distress, sometimes after being prescribed antidepressants with little or no mental health counseling or monitoring. Those findings conflict with regulations adopted last year by the Army that caution against the use of antidepressants for “extended deployments.”

“I can’t imagine something more irresponsible than putting a soldier suffering from stress on (antidepressants), when you know these drugs can cause people to become suicidal and homicidal,” said Vera Sharav, president of the Alliance for Human Research Protection. “You’re creating chemically activated time bombs.”
Yeah!!! Whacked out and armed!!
I have an idea. Lets put the really bad ones on the President's bodyguard detail. That would free up some troops for Iraq.

Heres another idea. Lets put the suicidal ones in the Vice-President's body gaurd detail. He shoots people in the face. Hell,l being around him is suicidal enough.
