Save the internet

This is another thread on this subject, since it's a very grave threat to the internet. The US Government has passed a law that allows the telecommunication's Industry to charge on data loaded i.e. plenty of google searches = more expensive. We must call on EVERYONE to act against this.

http://savetheinternet.com/

I suggest flooding forums with individual threads of the kind and reporting it to the media... I also suggest rating them 5 stars when possible.

No, don't believe the lies. Everyone on the Internet is there for free already, nothing on it costs money at all! It is only the evil U$ Government and Big Corporationazis that would dare think of attaching business to this most humble network of free forums and Torrent downloading services.

France, of course. We would be as stupid as letting everyone know it was us.

No, don't even try to make sense of "why that image", its just the first result I found when I did a search for "OMG where", and thinking further about this matter makes my brain hurt.

Does this happen every year?

WASHINGTON -- April 26, 2006 -- Today the House Energy and Commerce Committee struck a blow to Internet freedom by voting down a proposal to protect Network Neutrality from attacks by companies like AT&T, Verizon, and Comcast.

[...]

The Washington Post quoted Verizon vice president and deputy general counsel John Thorne as complaining that Web sites like Google are getting a "free lunch" by using telecom carriers' networks. "The network builders are spending a fortune constructing and maintaining the networks that Google intends to ride on with nothing but cheap servers," Thorne was quoted as saying. "It is enjoying a free lunch that should, by any rational account, be the lunch of the facilities providers."

Oh yeah... it's all lies. If Verizon wants to charge Google for delivering customers, how do you expect Google to continue to be free?

When you dial-up to the Internet, your telecoms company get money. Your net access is not free either, they charge you for have access and sometimes this is dependant on how much you download/upload. So, now the telecoms companies want to DOUBLE-CHARGE you for same thing the ISP is charging you for?

THE INTERNET IS 100% FREE

You can charge people for access to specific data... you can charge people.. to allow them to connect via your network (ie companies like AOL)..

but the internet is a free network

Of course it is. There's no conspiracy here. None at all.

Not for long, because charging on content will be done by internet providers, not the content providers. Are you so dumb that you cannot tell the difference?
