Looks like Pot's getting a job.

Well, last night, my dad's cousin came over to give us a pound cake (very good cake, really), and he started talking about how his office cleaning business was getting out of control with all the customers. He said that it's really difficult to do all of the work by himself, so my dad said me and my brother would be willing to work with him for good pay (yeah, I'm surprised that he actually showed initiative, too).

I don't know when I'll be starting, but I'm guessing it'll be the coming week, or the next. All I know's that he gets a lot of business, because there are so few office cleaners in this area (and so many offices). My world of shit could be over sooner than I thought.

And hey, I don't have to swallow my pride, cut my hair, and work at Wal-Mart, and I'll be getting better pay (not to mention much better hours). It's win-win!

...until you come across that first diarrhoea coated toilet bowl, anyway. ;)

Congrats.

Congrats.

I'll be leaving toilets to my brother, naturally. You know me better than that.

Bizarrely, even after looking at who started the thread, I thought this was about Pol Pot...

Then I read the OP. Such a disappointment.

Are we using the word 'cleaners' here as it was used in the films Leon and Nikita? If so, kewl.

Good for you, dude! Now, do a good job, keep yer nose clean, and in a few weeks tell yer dad's cousin that what his business needs is to be split into two divisions, based on locations of the clients and that you'd be pleased to run one of them for him. :)

Advantages:

* The business can handle more clients.

* The business can service existing clients more efficiently.

* It's the best way to make sure that when he gets competition ( and eventually he will ) he can continue to be "top dog."

The thought had crossed my mind, but I have much bigger plans. This is just to help me get along the road, so to speak.

Just keep your options open, is all I'm suggesting. Better to build on a job you already have than to bet on the "come to poppa" and wind up drawing to an inside straight. :)

Was it Pol Pot who used to work in a restaurant kitchen in London? I'm fairly sure that there was one genocidal maniac who did. They all have to start somewhere...

why are you surprised?..... shouldn't it have been you're initiative to get the job? not your dad's?

Hahaha. You don't know my dad.

For months, I've been wanting to get a job. I've told him about positions being open at the movie theater, the supermarkets, and restaurants. He's threatened me if I ever go out and get a job at any of those places. And yes, he would go through with his threats.

Luck to ya. At least it's an inside job. I know the hell of working outside in the Houston area in the summer....

I'm not sure why getting a job from a family member is such great news, when you obviously live with your parents anyway. Employment is good, sure, but why brag about it on the forums? I bet my dad or my uncle or my dad's cousin or someone would give me a job if I asked nice, but I got my own job... should we all start our own threads when we get employed?

Don't get me wrong, nepotism is a good way to get work experience for later, but it seems more like a blog thing and less like a messageboard thing. Since, obviously, not all of us are your friends.

Looks like he's one of those rare males who has periods.

But, the question is: Is it blood or fecal matter that leaks from the anus during the male period?

Not completely, really. I'd have to see the country for myself before I make any plans, though a friend of mine who's been there a few times tells me opening an American restaurant there would be a good idea.
