Little present...

Well, well, well. Having gotten slandered as an US-hater for not supporting Bush, having gotten picked on as a socialist for being against Dubya, and realizing that not only he is, once again, trying to undermine fundamental rights, but also has a 29% approval rating... I decided that it's time.

It is time, my friends, to give back all that crap I took when Bush was supported by the people. It is time, my friends, to pay you back for slandering me and attacking me, to get my comeuppance for all the void accusations, in several places, that I got.

Thus, I have a nice little present to offer you. I will perform a show. Yes, yes, a show! An arguing show.

I've put here a poll that will end when, oh, say, 30 or so (more if the poll seems popular) people have voted or in about 12 hours, whichever comes first. The poll is to decide the style of argumentative smackdown you want me to deliver to all of those that supported Dubya and that called me anti-American for not doing so. You've seen me at work, with my haikus, Shakespeare, and so on. So, since I have that thing stuck down my throat for so long, I figured it would be a good idea to give all of that back - with style, because, unlike them, I don't need ad hominem to live to see my next day in an argument.

Therefore, I call upon everyone that spent the last 5 years getting slandered and called an US-hater to vote here and decide.

Each of these styles have their own rules and constraints.

Thus, the poll.

The styles work as follows:

Shakespeare: I pick a quote from the greatest English-language playwright and adapt it to the situation. Maybe Cesar's eulogy, maybe something else.

The Riddler: Rhetorical questions-only argument, with a pointed ending to them.

Haikus: Several 5-7-5 syllable haikus in which I make my points.

The Beatles: I pick a song made by the Boys from Liverpool and adapt it.

WWJD: What would Jerry do. Why, don't you think Jerry Seinfeld should get his say?

It Was a Dark and Stormy Night: A novel-style narrative is made, describing what happened and how the neocons reacted.

Other: If you guys have any other style idea, post it and click on this. The number of replies as to "which other style" will guide my decision in case this "other" wins.

So, there you have it. Everyone that's been getting crap for the last 5 years, it's payback time. It's up to you HOW I will deliver said payback.

Share and enjoy! :p

The tragedy of Ceasar would work or King Lear "approval, approval! my presidency for approval!"

I might decide to make a second vote as to which song, play or quote to use in case that's needed...

Also, depending on how close an option is to another one, I might make a runoff thread between the two best candidates. :p

While I'd love to read Seinfeld's take on the current administration (Who are these neocons?), I think I'll pick Shakepeare

Let us make this an intersting challenge for you as well.

A combination of the Riddler with Haikus

Rhetorical questions/points expressed in haikus.

Wow! o_O

Okay, any of those that voted for "haikus" here (the poll lets me know who you are) and want to change this to "other", you may, if you want. I MYSELF have no personal preference, I'll follow the will of the people...

Unlike what Bush is doing.

ZING! :D

Well, if you want to add another "other", you can make a suggestion that I do "what would Seinfeld SAY" instead of what would he DO. ;)

It's got to be a Haiku.

If it is, it'll be several haikus, mind you.

Okay, due to popular demand, I'm fusing "WWJD" into both "what would he DO" and what would he SAY. :p

Oh, asking people how you should bait your flame hook (http://www.state.tn.us/twra/fish/pond/baithook.jpg)?

I'm just wondering why you want people to vote on how you should flame people in this forum.

Because it's rather fun and not really a flame hook. Just asking how arguments should be sent back. Rather fun, actually.

Instead of a "What would Jerry do?" option, you should have had a "What would Scooby Do?" option.

I'll do both. ;)

Plus I can't do it as I want in just ONE. o_o

Well, not only you voted on it, but also, if THEY decide to flame me, it's THEIR decision. I'll just point out the nice stuff, non-flaming.

I find Haikus more pleasant and poignant alone or in pairs. Just my findings, anyway.

I think that anyone who wants to respond to the eventual argument should follow the same or similar rules.

I make no such restriction. For two reasons:

1- By placing restrictions on MY way to argue, but not on THEIRS, it shows that, even thus restrained, I'm better at it than them.

2- Few of my opponents would have the will to follow the rules, and even fewer the skill to do so.

Political discourse is never flamebait....... A blinding spewing idialog would be.
Give him the benefit of the doubt.
