But I would enjoy the Army most. Either Armoured Infantry, or Paratroopers. As long as I could stay away from the battles, and just go on fun maneuvres and stuff, I'd enjoy it, I think.

I would also enjoy the army the most. To chicken-shit of heights for the air-force, and I do not like to get wet so the Navy is out of the question. I would probably end up as a generic assualt soldier.

Yep. The Air Force doesn't like people with glasses (and I'm not gonna be a grease monkey), and I've got a phobia of drowning in the bowels of some boat.

Plus, I like tanks and rifles and stuff. Add that to the fact that the Army is the only part of the German military that's actually any good, and I'm sold.

The good news is though that all plans to go back in the next few years seem to have been scrapped. Looks like I'll never have military stories to tell.

Another bonus of being in the Canadian Army is that we would be wearing different colors than everyone else, so we wouldknow who the bad guys are. *nods* We also prefer to shoot in self defence, or if he is weilding a gun, unlike a certain other ally of ours who command their troops to shoot anything that moves.

Ok, air force by far:

1. They have Hornets in Williamtown and Tindal
2. One year in an flying comp, AUS flew one Hornet and on F-111 (I think) to America. America laughed at them, seeing as they had all the new technology, but AUS beat hell out of them! :D
3. Army may have tanks, but can those tanks fly at MACH 2?
4. Navy may have submarines, but can those subs outrun a light aircraft?
5. Air force are just the best by far :sniper:

In terms of quality of life, you are best picking Army or navy. Airforce bases are all in remote flat places. Army bases are every where. Navy bases are all on the coast and often in/near urban centers. However, Navy personnel must spend months at a time out at sea. I would pick Army as a nice middle path there.
In terms of uniforms, Airforce uniforms are very plain. Navy uniforms are very gay. Army uniforms have a lot of variety. I would again go for Army as a nice middle path.
In terms of technology, airforce have jets. Navy have subs and battleships. Army has artillery, intelligence gathering equipment, tanks, and lots of frontline soldier equipment. So while in the airforce of navy you have the superior and more expensive pieces of technology, the Army has more technology, and technology you can actually have for yourself. Again Army presents a nice middle path.
In terms of the actual job, Airforce involves lots of flying and the odd button to be pushed. Navy offers lots of sodomy on a boat. Army offers a mixture of flying buttonpushing, sodomy, and action to again form a nice middle path.

So I would pick Army as the coolest. (N.B. All above information is from an Australian perspective, in refernce to the Australian military).

I grew up surrounded by Air Force bases and wanted to fly as a kid, loved air shows and all that. So I should say Air Force, but I'm not so into dropping bombs on people, so I'd have to go with Coast Guard (I don't know what they'd call similar branches elsewhere.) Not so crazy about the whole drug war part of thier job, but rescuing people is a job I could feel pretty good about.

I would have to say my favorite branch would be the airforce. The US airforce(my country's airforce and my future career aspiration) is the best funded and most comfortable (so i've heard) branch of the US military. There is just a certain grace to an F-22 slipping past enemy fighters and killing them undetected, or an A-10 swooping in for the kill with enough firepower to level a column of tanks.

Oh, and before someone starts, because I know someone will, I do not necesarily agree with the choices of my government. Im just hoping that by the time i enlist, that there will be a smarter and more level headed president in office. I don't even care which party he comes from if he's smart, and cares about everyone, not just the people who vote for him.

Dang, that rant went longer than i expected

Personally I'd go for the whole airforce deal. Why? Well for the last five (going on 6) years I have been a member of the Air Cadets working towards my pilots licence (going for it this summer, got my glider licence 2 years ago). The poll is flawed. A sane/rational person abhors violence. A sane/rational person also realizes that, in certain situations, violence is a necessary tool, no matter how much he abhors it. And at any rate, each "branch" has its use and purpose.

"The second best thing about space travel is that the distances involved make war very difficult, usually impractical, and almost always unnecessary. This is probably a loss for most people, since war is our race's most popular diversion, one which gives purpose and color to dull and stupid lives. But it is a great boon to the intelligent man who fights only when he must—never for sport."

Trust me, if there's space travel there's going to be space drop ships carrying marines...it's a given. Dropping marines off on different continents rapidly has that appeal.

Yes the 7th panzers were known as the Ghost Panzers under the command of Field Marshal Rommel. And as for the 2nd NZ division the Aust SAS would kick their arse. The Aust SAS were the only part of any force in the Vietnam War of any country involved in the conflict to not have any casualties
