A thing can't be evil.
The use of a thing can lead to evil tho....
Can also lead to good.
Don't attack the thing, attack the wrong uses of the thing.

So, you support prohibition then?

Might I suggest that you read into US history in the 20's-30's to see how bad of a idea it is. That, or look at how drug prohibition is effecting us today.

Prohibition doesn't work

It didn't work in the 30s
And looka t the war on drugs now

It just is unfeasible to win because of simple economics-

Prohibition curbs supply while not reducing demand. High demand/Low Supply means igher price per quantity sold. With a higher price, more people are willing to risk supplying since there is so much money to be made. Which is why you can shut down one distiller or kill one cartel leader amd another will step into its place.

You want people to not drink, reduce demand.

Drinking is only a problem if I get into a drunken rage and start attacking people who try to tell me that alcohol is evil. And that hasn't happened! ... yet.

Prohibition had nothing to do with life in the 30s. It was stock market crashings, and lack of FBI to control unruly mafias, among many other problems.

Few would step in to do illegal trade if they knew the FBI would be on their backs. And making a cigarette and running wine is a lot harder than growing a marijuana plant and mixing some chemicals in a bath tub, so don't compare it to that. Just look at illegal moonshine, it is a virtually non-existent problem in our society.

PROHIBITION IS GRANDE!!!!!!

Woops...did I say that?

Actually, you're wrong, from an economic standpoint, the two situationsa are nearly identical.

Source - My economics professor's last two lectures (she specializes in the economics of illegal drugs).

Prove that they are nearly identical, say why, and provide more reason than just "Your wrong, my teacher said so". And teachers aren't god, by the way.

I must go to bed now, sorry to cut this otherwise enjoyable debate short. (my I love debates...I know, I have no life...:D )

I already posted the reasons simply via supply and demand. If you really want to find out why, I suggest you look up her written crap on the subject. Kerry Anne McGreary is the name, not sure which publishers handled her stuff, probably Unversity presses.

Prohibition caused trouble already in the 20s, before the stock crash.

The mafia was so strong (and organised crime is so strong now) because they make so much money from selling illegal drugs. Remove prohibition and the mafia becomes easier to control.

Illegal moonshine is a small problem because it is unprofitable. You can get better alcohol for less money legally. Because prohibition is repealed.

Read a book before you try to lecture people.

Perhaps.
But my liver is also evil and must be punished. Thus far I've only found alcohol to be useful in dealing out said punishment.
When they come up with something better, let me know.

Beer makes you smarter. According to Darwin's theory, Beer will kill the weak brain cells first and spare the strong ones, which will have the net effect of making you smarter.

That's not Darwin's law. It's Cliff Clavin's law.
But it is a good one.
