BNP Fodder?

To those who are aware of the story of the asylumn seekers who hijacked a plane, do you feel this will only enhance peoples hatred of immigrants and fuel the BNP machine? I tihnk most people will agree the BNP could do without more support...

To those unfamiliar with the story, a group of immigrants hijacked a plane and forced it to go to Heathrow. Once there, they held the plane for four days before giving themselves up and being arrested. After being imprisoned for two years, they have finally won the right to stay in England with housing provided by the state. Unfortunately, because things are still being processed, they aren't allowed to work. They were released from prisons on the grounds they were forced to act as they did. If they were deported to (I think Afghanistan) they were likely to be murdered.

It's a bit of an odd situation because, if I remember correctly, they weren't hijacking the plane to hurt anyone or in support of terrorism or any of the usual reasons for hijacking. They would, therefore, presumably argue that hijacking was the only way they could get to the country in order to seek asylum and shouldn't be penalised for simply trying to flee persecution.

On the other hand, Afghanistan is meant to be 'safe' now.

I doubt it'll do anything for the BNP though; a couple of hijackers are hardly evidence of 'floods' of immigrants. It'll be of more help to the Tories who'll claim it shows the Government doesn't care about crime and protecting the borders.

Well actually that is why they were released from prison, however I'd imagine the BNP will use it in several ways;

A) It shows immigrants disregard for British Law
B) It shows immigrants are potentially dangerous
C) They will claim that all immigrants sponge off the state

Afgahinistan as pointed out earlier is now meant to be 'safe' so why cant we simply deport them back now?

It's about as safe as a car made of asbestos with primed depth charges for wheels.

because the courts realise that despite any claims, the Taliban are still significantly powerful in Afghanistan.
