I don't hate him the way Christian Fundamentalists do, I just down like his music (and no one can say I never really gave him a chance, considering I have all his albums).
His first CD (Portrait of an American Family) was decent, and the songs from Smells Like Children are pretty good. Other than that, I just think he kind of sucks.

The other week, I was on an HUGE Aesop Rock kick. Atmosphere is always really reliable, too, as are Eyedea and Abilities and pretty much anything El-P touches. Lately I've been listening to a lot of Talib Kweli. You should check out MURS, if you haven't already. My all-time favorites are Public Enemy, N.W.A., and Beastie Boys (a lot of people like to hate on them, but I contend that Paul's Boutique is easily one of the best hip-hop records ever made).

The first few are my favorites, the rest are some that I like a whole whole whole bunch, but aren't necessarily the ones I'd put in my top 20.
Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins, Local H, Metallica, Therapy? Napalm Death, Motörhead, Ministry, Sebadoh, R.E.M., Death, the Melvins, Cathedral, Mudhoney, the Plasmatics, Soul Asylum, Babes In Toyland, Husker Du, Bad Religion, Screaming Trees
