Will PAL dvd play in most NTSC players? I have to make a dvd for American customers but I can't make ntsc with my useless edit (no valid reference signal, only pal reference). I could convert it later but I really don't have the time. They mentioned only yesterday that it will be send to US...

I've never had any problems playing ntsc dvds on pal players but I've heard that there could be problems the other way round.

I wouldn't think you could play it in an NTSC player, but I don't know. You might want to examine material on the subject.

There certainly are pal/ntsc players but that's not enough if their televisions can't play pal...I just would like to know do you Americans have those multiplayers or is it something that only movie freaks care about?

There is no right answer to my question, everyone seems to have different opinion on the matter.

This Regional allocation thing is BS, it is racism!
it is worse than when god gave all the peoples of the world different languages.

Agreed. Wholeheartedly!

Not only regional codes but formats. I hate formats.
And those arrogant French bastards with their Secams...

Umatics, MIIs, Betacams...Now blu-rays, HDs, PDDs

Its bloody annoying, i never bought any of the Command and Conquer/Red Alert Series on the Playstation and now no one stocks them(Surprising how they are all 5+ years old) but if i was to move to a different country my gear could become obsolete.
My boss has over $13,000(NZ) invested in DVD's suck if he moved countries.:p

As I recall, you can general play NTSC discs in a PAL player, but not vice versa.

Yay for living in NZ with PAL, eh :p One of the few things this country got right.

It will depend on the player, really. The DVD is not really PAL or NTSC, they just carry data, it's the player that takes the data and converts to a PAL or NTSC signal. The only difference is the resolution, which is a bit higher for PAL DVDs than for NTSC ones. However, most NTSC players won't play PAL DVDs just because the manufacturers disable that option. PAL players usually keep the NTSC option open.

There may be hacks around to unlock PAL, but it's unlikely that you'll want to subject your customers to that.
