Three man is my favorite drinking game. It's played with dice instead of cards. Each roll of the dice causes something to happen. Roll a 7 and the person to the left of you drinks. Roll an 11 and the person to the right drinks. Roll the first three and you're "Three Man". You drink every time a three is rolled. Roll the dice off the table and you're "village idiot". You drink whenever Three Man does. There are more rules, but I'll leave you with that since I don't feel like typing more.

There's also a nice one called "Never have I ever" which is like Truth or Dare minus the Dare. One person says "Never have I ever...", adds something they never did, and anyone for whom that statement would be true takes a drink.

They played something similar on Family Guy once. Quagmire ended up getting trashed.

Descriptions are from barmeister.com:

Three Man
Everyone starts off by rolling one die till someone rolls a three. This person then becomes the three man. The game then proceeds around the circle with people taking turns rolling the dice. The dice are only passed when someone rolls something that does not require drinking. Here is what each roll means:
When dice total:

- 3: Whoever is the three man must drink. If the three man rolls this then he may pass the title to a person of his choosing.
- 7: Person to the right of "roller" drinks
- 9: Person across from "roller" drinks
- 10: Social...everyone drinks
- 11: Person to the left of "roller" drinks

Other dice combinations:

- 4 & 1: Whoever rolls this become the Thumb-Master. They can place their thumb on the table whenever they want. The last person to do this must drink. The Thumb-Master can only change when someone else rolls a 4 & 1.

- Doubles: When someone rolls double they give the dice to someone of their choosing. This person rolls the dice and must drink for that many seconds. The dice may be given to two people instead of giving both to just one person.

At any time during the game the three man can be told to drink. However the person currently rolling may not tell the three man to drink. If he does he must drink.

Roxanne
This is probably the easiest drinking game to play on the planet. All you need is the song "Roxanne" by the Police. Split the group into two seperate teams. One team drinks everytime that you hear the word "Roxanne" in the song. The other team drinks when they hear the words "put on a red light". You might be thinking to yourself "uhhh......that's, like, pretty easy". You would be mistaken about that. They say "Roxanne" and "put on a red light" a lot in this song.

Asshole
The first hand is used to determine everyone's rank during the following hands. Deal out all the cards. The person to the left of the dealer starts off. The object of the game is to get rid of all your cards. When starting you can lay down any card or cards with the same face value. The person following you must lay down a card of equal or greater value. They must also use the same amount of cards as you did. If you lay down two 9's then they would have to lay down two of something equal or greater. If the player lays down the same card as the previous player then the next player is skipped and must drink. Also if you can't play any of your cards than you must skip and drink. Cards are cleared if everyone skips or a two is played.
Play continues like this until all the cards have been played. After the first hand is when the fun really begins. There is a ranking system which is as follows: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Asshole. Whoever goes out first becomes the new President for the next game, the second person becomes the Vice-President, etc... For the following rounds, anyone who ranks higher than you can tell you to drink whenever they want to.

Special Rules:
The Asshole must always deal and clear the cards. Also the Asshole must give the two best cards in their hand to the President. The President gives the two worst cards in their hand to the Asshole. If the President remains President for three consecutive rounds they can create special rules, such as the word "drink" cannot be used. If these rules are broken then the offender must drink.

Circle of Death
Have a deck of cards spread out in a circle shape. One persons chooses a card. Then the person next the them chooses a card. If the cards are of the same suit, you add up the values of the two cards and the two people have to drink for that many seconds. If they aren't the same then the first person puts their card in a discard pile and the next person draws a card. If it matches the second person's suit then they drink, etc...
The fun begins when you get three of the same suit in a row because you add all the values up and all three have to drink. The same if it is four of the same suit...etc. You also have to drink if when you choose your card and you break the circle of cards.

Drunk Driver (version 3, the one I remember)
You can play the game with up to 9 people, but works best with 3 or 4 besides the dealer. Each face card is assessed a number of drinks. Ace is 4, King is 3, Queen is 2, and Jack is 1. Everyone picks a number 2 through 10, and must remember their number.
The dealer starts by flipping over one card at a time, whenever your number is flipped over for the first time you're "in the car", and you must drink everytime a face card comes up while you're in the car. The next time your card comes up you're out of the car.

You have to pay attention, cause if you don't you could be stuck in the car for the whole game. The faster the dealer goes, the more drinks accumulate. Good fun.

Quarters
Quarters can be played with any number of players. Play is best with 3-6 players. Competitors sit around a table, hard wood works best but you might need to experiment. To decide who will go first, spin the quarter. When it stops, it will be pointing at the person that starts. I use Lincoln's nose or the Eagle's beak. Once established, the game begins.
The shooter tries to bounce a quarter off the table and into a glass. If the quarter goes into the glass, the shooter chooses a person at the table to consume. The amount or size of the drink is debatable. This should be decided before the game starts. The shooter's turn is over when he/she does not make the quarter in the cup. Play then proceeds the next shooter.

To make things more exciting, rules are developed by the shooters only after making three quarters into the glass in a row. If any rules are broken, the guilty party must consume.

Century Club
This game requires a clock, shot glasses, and lots of beer. Each person should have a shot glass in front of them. Every minute all players must take a shot of beer for 100 minutes.
It seems easy at first but after about the 30th minute time seems to be going by faster and faster. Once you accomplish drinking a shot for each of the 100 minutes you are officially a member of the Century Club. Not many men can do it. You will end up drinking around ten beers. Good luck!

Hockey
The buzz factor varies on this game depending on how ruthless you want to get. To start you need teams of 2 people each. So you basically have an even number of players and you sit across from your partner. The three of clubs leads. The next player then tries to match the number of the previously played card.
If there is no match play continues until the cards match. The person who pays the matching card and their partner then make the losing team drink. Each person on the winning team picks a person on the losing team to "knock" for. Each person on the losing team drinks until their corresponding person knocks for them. Then the person after whoever played the last card leads off until all the cards have been played.

Eights and jacks are free cards. When an eight or jack is played regardless of whether the next person matches it you are safe and do not have to drink. Also you have to play two games - where the second game the cards are played in the opposite direction so the teams get a chance to get back at whoever was knocking for them in the first round.

Beirut
This game is similar to BeerPong. Depending on number of players and desired level of intoxication, pick a number of cups for the back row (five is usually good for two on two). After the back row is set up, fill in the rest of the cups in a pyramid shape, with the point near the center of the table. Fill the cups about 1/4 full with beer.

The teams then shoot the ping-pong balls at the cups, and if a team sinks one, the other team drinks that cup. If a team gets an airball (flies off the end of the table without hitting the table or a cup), then the person who threw the ball has to drink one of their own.

Here is where a variation can come into play. One version of the game keeps all of the empty cups on the table until there is one cup left (then they all get cleared except for that one cup). In other versions, when the number of empty cups equals the number of cups in the back row, all of the empty cups are cleared and a new, smaller pyramid is formed.

When it is down to the last cup, there are a few special rules. If a team sinks the last cup, then the other team has a chance to defend themselves. The number of people that threw on the "offensive" team relates to the number of catch-up shots the "defensive' team gets. So, if the one team sinks the last cup on the first try then the other team only gets one shot to catch up. If it is one cup to one cup and the defensive team sinks the catch up shot, then it is like sudden death.

A diamond is made out of the cups (three more are added to each side) and the game proceeds using the same rules as regular play. The team that loses has to drink any beer that is remaining in the cups of the winning team. Usually, the winning team stays on and takes on a challenging team.

Case Race
This is a simple game. Start out with 4 of your best drinkers. Challenge any other group of four people. Each 4 person group is a team. Each team gets a case. Find a ref who will judge fair.

When the ref says start everyone starts drinking. The winning team is the first team done with all of their beer. Every can must be completely empty. If the ref rules a can is not empty then it must be drank before your team can win. Any spills or throwing up results in a 30 sec penalty added to your total time.

The fastest we've done this is in just under 4 minutes thirty seconds. Try to beat the record.

Editor's note: This can also be a one-case-per-person competition... fastest to finish a case wins.

in school we used to play mostly Three Man and Asshole

I tried to do the Century Club once, made it to 85, then had to "take a leak"

to the person who said that drinking should be taken seriously:

Yes, certainly... bear in mind that my drinking game risk (well, all of us...) was majorly mitigated by the fact that I didn't drive (campus life).

We used common sense:

If you pass out, you get road-mapped.

So don't pass out... unless you're in your room

I prefer Aquatic Beer Pong. (beer pong played by Beiruit rules, but the table is on floats in a pool)

But from the poll, I'd go with Three man.

Drunk Driver is useful if there's just two of you.

And G.O.L.F. is pretty cool for a card game.

Pass the Pigs is fun too.

Ok, so the only drinking game I have ever played is the "star wars" one....

there are many variations, but the one time I did do it, we had to take a drink every time that Luke whines-- you are trashed within the first 45 min of Star Wars.
