i recently read an article where some music critic was blasting the stones and their contribution to music. he went on to say they had nothing on the beatles and were so inferior that it was a joke to even mention them in the same sentence. i thought perhaps that you couldnt really say that either was superior just that they were both really good but friends i spoke to thought otherwise, so i thought id toss it out there:rolleyes:

Herman's Hermits!
Seriously, the Beatles had a much greater impact on popular culture and much more influence on subsequent pop music development.
Whether you like their music more is another matter. I, for one, do.

Each group could do things the other one couldn't, but I prefer the Who to them both.

I prefer the Stones. Whether they're better or not is another matter. How do you judge? Biggest impact? Record sales? Biggest influence? Most good-looking? Biggest penis? Highest combined IQ? Most outrageous onstage stunt? Best haircut? I think you're getting the point by now, but I'm going to continue anyway because I'm amusing myself here. Most expensive car bought by a band member? Most drugs taken? Stupidest name of a band member? Most ridiculous clothes worn?
Might as well answer these as well.
Beatles, Stones, Stones (they were a greater influence on David Bowie, 'nuff said), Stones, you tell me, erm..., Stones, Stones, don't know, Stones, Beatles (Ringo Starr), Beatles (Sgt. Pepper's... cover).

The Doors.
The Kinks > The Doors.

The Stones. The Beatles were better per capita, but the Stones have better songs overall.
The Kinks > The Doors.
I do like the Kinks too, but nah, the Doors selftitled is a masterpiece.

Yes it is (sounds beautiful on vinyl, as well :)). Village Green Preservation Society is one of the best albums of the '60s though.
Also, the Doors didn't do jackshit else even approaching the quality of their self-titled. The Kinks win it for sustained brilliance.

the Beatles knew when to quit at least. Kieth Richards is in hosipital up in Auckland because he fell out of a fucking tree.

The Beatles. But I'd rather listen to The Stones.

He wanted coconuts. How else was he going to get them? He was probably out of his head on some sort of drugs as well, so it's a miracle he managed to climb the tree in the first place.

So what is new, he has been out of his tree for years.

I guess that's true, but he's Keith fucking Richards! He has people he pays to do shit like 'moving' for him.
Miles Motherfucking Davis.
Motherfucker.
Beatles are better, by far. Why isn't there a poll for this?

They never topped it, i'll agree, but I think their only really "bad" album was the Soft Parade (haven't heard the two post-Morrison albums, though). I don't care what anyone says, Waiting For the Sun was awesome too.
Oh, and Led Zeppelin and Velvet Underground are also > all those, except VU are probably on par with the Kinks.

Never really got into VU...maybe I should. But yeah, Led Zep are indeed better than both. I say Pink Floyd are better than LZ though.
Thanks for posting the chocolate as well :)

I like Pink Floyd too, but I can't say they top LZ. But then again, I haven't heard the majority of their work (I only have The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon) when I think i've heard pretty much everything LZ did, so I shouldn't make comparisons.
Thanks for posting the chocolate as well :)
Ha, not yet - they gave me another form to fill out and I was in a hurry so I had to take it home with me and post it...tomorrow. *nods*
That's like...three things i've had to fill out...to send a block of chocolate. Ridiculous. And i'm a white anglo-saxon male! :p

Since we are talking about '60s groups in general, I will say that Jefferson Airplane > other '60s groups.
