One step closer to big brother!

And another reason I don't like John Scully.

This company will continuously do background checks on employees (for a fee of course).

In time you just might find your boss asking what you were doing on the weekends.....

What was interesting was the guy that started this got pissed off about online dating lies. On the radio, he said he went out with 3 women and found one was married, one had a child and I forget the other.

So he felt that everybody lies and needs to be checked up on from time to time. Just because you hired clean doesn't mean they stay clean so for "security" purposes, you need to check up on people.

Of course he argued this was not "big brother" as if you aren't doing anything wrong then you don't have to worry.

Scary times ahead.

Therefor they must be monitored closely now. The revolution must have information!

efficient and productive AT work - but what you do at home isn't really their business.

The type of checks they have introduced wouldn't have stopped that stalker anyway since he had a clean record right up till the moment he was convicted (duh!)

heh, I have no problem with people making background checks on me, continuosly, I have nothing to hide and if people dont have anything to hide why should they worry?

This is why I am also not against DNA databases

I wonder if the employees can do background checks on management and on the board members. One would think that such a thing would prevent Enron-style shenanigans and be of much greater value to the shareholders than knowing if a secretary got poped for smoking a joint over the weekend.

Things like DNA databases are open to massive explotation.
They only work if you assume that the government is some kind of perfect, all-knowing and all-wise deity.

The fact that we practice democracy tells us that the goverment isn't perfect (or we wouldn't need elections).

SO

perhaps you have nothing to hide - but the goverment might have something to hide. We all know governments have been corrupted often enough. And then they would be a corrupt goverment with all your infomation, DNA and the means to observe your every detail.

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
- US Constitution, Ammendment IV

I don't care if it's government or private, my time is my time.

Well luckily, our government is perfect so that would never happen....

Just because something could happen doesnt mean it will. But yr right and so I'll have to revise my earlier statement to if it was foolproof and secure I would have no problem with DNA databases etc

Night after night, we hear Big Brother opening the back door. He thinks that nobody knows, but we, the little brothers, will often catch Big Brother sneaking out of the house at night. When he returns, Big Brother often reeks of some odd substance. We never mention this in the morning. We respect Big Brother's privacy. But we begin to notice more and more peculiar behavior. Sometimes we notice him silently looking over our shoulder, unannounced. Every once in a while, we catch him looking through our room for seemingly no reason. Yesterday, we watched him pour our trash can out on the floor and begin digging through the refuse.
"What are you doing, Big Brother?"
Startled, he leapt to his feet and stuttered, "I... I was just..." He regains his composure and calmly reassures us, "I accidentally threw a can in here instead of in the recycling bin."
He hastily leaves our room empty-handed, mumbling something under his breath. As we pick up the mess he made, we find that there is no can amongst the garbage.
Just this morning, the strangest thing happened. We slowly open our eyes, and see a humanoid shadow in the corner of our room. Startled, we quickly sit up. The shadow stands up and walks toward us. Exiting the darkness, the identity of the silhouette is revealed: Big Brother. Discovered, Big Brother exits without a word.
Big Brother is starting to scare us. We didn't really mind too much at first, but now we really think something might be wrong. We have sat in silence for too long. We, the little brother, must stand up to our Big Brother. His behavior is getting worse every day. We don't know what he has planned, but we cannot allow him to continue down this path. We must put an end to Big Brother's actions once and for all.
