You know I never thought of it that way, but now when i look at him again, all he needs is the bald head and presto you do have uncle fester.

I remember hearing about Popetown a while ago.

As in it was due to be shown on some UK channel or other but pulled.

So it's hit the light of day, then? Brilliant. Not because I know it's funny or anything, but there's no real reason to stop it if it isn't illegal in any way. If it isn't actually funny, and what little I've seen of it makes me think it's a bit South Park in attitude, if not in format) it can slide beneath the black, black surface of the animators' inkwells...

(Strangely, don't remember any particular reason why it was poking fun at B the XVIth. Is it only because it's being shown in Germany that is that connection being made now?)

Because it doesn't make that connection. It's just "some" Pope, not "the" Pope - although the phrasing contradicts itself because there only is "the Pope".

All I can say is that this series is a show of bad taste and not even really funny - and I'm not Catholic and wouldn't necessarily be offended.
