An IM to my sister after she saw it:

Me: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bell_witch
Me: Much scarier than that movie, yessss?
Me: "The "witch" reportedly manifested herself as an invisible presence at first, gnawing on the bedposts, scratching at the walls, and jerking the blankets off of sleeping family members and guests."
Sister: I'm not reading or I wolnt go to sleep
Sister: It did that in the movie
Sister: But it wasn't scary when the chick was bitch slapped
Me: XD

Haha, yeah, the story that every single Tennessean kid knows. Mothers have been known to say that the Bell Witch will attack children who refuse to go to sleep at night, and those children have been known to not be able to go to sleep ever (thanks, Mama).

Did you really read it? Then you must have missed this part...

On May 5, 2006 a film based on the events of the Bell Witch legend, titled An American Haunting, was released. An American Haunting is an American thriller written and directed by Courtney Solomon. It stars Donald Sutherland, Sissy Spacek, Rachel Hurd-Wood and James D'Arcy. Though this film touts itself on being based on one of the most documented hauntings ever, it really does not take much of the documented events into account for the film's script and instead stands mostly on its own ground.
