Meh, they already exposed this trick on that show on Fox a while back. You know, the one with the masked magician etc. Really not much of a trick once you know how it's done.

Why would anyone want to watch a two hour program where the main event is suspose to only be about 9 minutes? Lotsa fillers there.

The 15 minute record was made by a person who was breathing pure oxygen beforehand. The record for longest time holding breath and breathing normal air beforehand is 8 minutes 58 seconds. I think Blaine has been breathing pure oxygen.

The ppl able to go so long are able to drop their heart rate way down - some of them can drop it down to below 10 bpm.

There was a fakir named Kuda Bux who could:
Stop his own heart
read through a blindfold
and
walk through searing coals.
It's faith that allows him to do these things.

There was an experiment done a few years ago with an Indian Swami guy who claimed he could control his body functions to an incredible degree.
To verify his claim, they stuck him in an airtight chamber that had less than the equivalent of 10 minutes of air.
He comfortably stayed in there for over 1/2 an hour. During that time, he was monitored - his heart rate went down to 8 bpm, his breathing dropped from 20 (average is 22 /min) to 4, and brain activity shut down to equivalent of a coma patient (the brain uses up most oxygen).
Another Indian Swami claimed he hadn't had drunken anything in decades. Once again, researchers wanted to see if he was telling the truth, so stuck him in a sealed hospital room for more than a week. Only water he got was a few mls to wash himself and clean his teeth, which he spat back out.
Amazingly, what was happening was that his bladder would fill up as normal, but then the liquid would be reabsorbed back into his body.
Then there's some monks who live high up in the Himalayas. They put cold wet sheets over themselves and direct their body heat out to dry them. They also go out some evenings dressed only in a thin robe and sit in the snow all night meditating. Come morning they get up, shake the snow off and head back to the monastry, none the worse for wear. No frostbite or anything.
The mind's control over the body is bloody amazing.
