Alexisonfire is crap!

I can't believe people actually buy their CD's. Holy hell do they suck! I'm sorry if you enjoy their music, but I gotta go on a rant here. Everybody at my school likes them, and not only them, but all those screaming punk bands. How can anybody enjoy that garbage?

I remember the very first time I heard Alexisonfire, I was at a friends house watching MuchMusic and they came on. At first I liked them, good beat, good guitars, pretty good. Then the singer started to scream about some shit and I just laughed my ass off. They couldn't be for real!

After a while though as I saw more people listening to this shit I grew angry. Especially now. The reason I'm ranting like this is because just last Friday my school hosted a cure for cancer festival thingys. There was games and music and a bunch of fun stuff. Anyway, me and this other guy were in charge of the music and I wanted to play the new Pearl Jam cd (which, for the record, fuckin' rocks) and he just laughed and called them a Creed rip-off and then proceeded to play Alexisonfire.

...I had never wanted to kill anybody so much in my life.

Creed rip-off? CREED RIP-OFF????? :sniper: :mp5: :sniper: :mp5: :headbang:

I think that should do it, I believe I got my point across. Which is, that screaming punk music sucks ass and I feel that my IQ has dropped just from hearing it.

Thank you for listening, now, let's discuss why they suck so much, or, if you'd like, let's debate why you think that shit they call music is better than everything else.

Just how bad is this screaming? Can you still make out the lyrics?

He probably did the right thing, if your entire school (or at least, a significant proportion) is into the band. You have to give the people what they want (I'm not saying that was his motivation, but that maybe it worked out for the best)

Yeah I guess I can see that, but still. Pearl Jam kicks both Creed and Alexisonfires ass. Record sales can prove it.

As for the screaming, I can't make out a fucking word. Hear for yourself, go download one of their songs, but I must warn you, get a container of Asprin near by.

Ah, yes. As we all know, if a piece of music is not to your taste, that makes it crap. Because music isn't a subjective thing, for which all people have different preferences.

Record sales can be used to prove fuck all.

Case in point: Spice Girls vs. everybody good who never sold a huge amount of records.

Now we're talking! **waves "rap is talentless shit" sign; shakes fist at techno fans**

Although record sales aren't the best judge of musical talent and ability. Compare Biffy Clyro (awesome) with the Spice Girls (not so awesome)

I was going to compare Biffy with the Spice Girls (Biffy being easily my favourite band), but I didn't think anybody would have heard of them...

Which is kind of the point. Except it leaves any judgement of their talent/ability coming from my interpretation. Hmm

(I heard of them from you. Which is good for me.)

meh. i can't understand what the hell eddie vedder is saying either. he should spit out those marbles.

also, while i agree that the band in question sucks ass, that is not very aggressive screaming (try lamb of god for the good stuff). furthermore, it is the lame ass faux emo singing that drives this into unlistenable territory. there are a million bands that sound exactly like that and they all suck. you should have played some strikeforce diablo or piglet for your school mates. who cares which super popular band you wanted to play?

finally, record sales are a good indication of how many people are so worried about what others think of them that they allow their appreciation of art to be manipulated by giant money-making media conglomerates.

enjoy

I would have to say that it's unlikely that Alexisonfire sucks, based on your description of it, though.

bah. I dislike both groups, so I can't say a lot for either, but if memory serves correctly, Alexisonfire (is that Alex is on fire or Alexis on fire?) are indy, but by no means punk.

Screaming can be good (see Protest the Hero), but it is mostly annoying. That said, I find grunge just as musically annoying, and dislike Pearl Jam quite a bit.
