We had a schizm back in the good ol' days of the Dark Ages, now we're having another one. Now the Chinese are making their own church. This will possibly lead to crusades, rebellions, and more schizms. Go China for starting the downfall of the church! (Wait a minute, this seems strangely bad, as this coincides with the nearity of the 2012!)

Oh dear, the obersturmgruppenfuhrer will not be pleased but then the number of catholics in china probably outnumbers the rest of the world's so there's not much old benny boy can do about it.....and also don't worry about 2012, worry about 06.06.06....

I support the idea of a schizm. A goverment should not have control of a religion, not because religion corrupts goverments, (Which, is the reason most people cite) but because goverments tend to corrupt religions.

Also, does this seem familiar to what happend with Tibetian buddhism a few years ago?

Actually, the schism is with the govenrment run church and the catholic church. The real catholics are persecuted by the government. There is a difference.

Man, there's a scientology schism too.
What sucks about schisms is that they give credence to cults. Stupid Jesus cults.

A schizm between the catholic church and an oppressive totalitarian government.

I don't see what's new about that.

There was already a topic on this a couple days ago. But the mods closed it.

Not funny because that's a rank in the SS of which the man who became Pope was never a member. The young Ratzinger was required to join the Hitler Youth as a 14-year-old and was later drafted as a Luftwaffehelfer. That hardly makes him a Nazi.
