Show off where you live!

The Atlantian islands

This is a chance to show off all the nice things (in pictures) about where you live and what you like about living there.

Post some pictures of your Country and/or City.

If you want to talk about why you like where you live thats also allowed.

I'll start with some pictures of Ft. Lauderdale, South Florida.

And of course...why we all love the beach.

http://www.beachster.org/images/r_girls_on_beach.jpg

And finally..why Floridians living at least one full year in Florida transform into total badasses who boast about how they defy natural selection.

wow, looks lovely! (especially the beach!)

i live in Southampton (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southampton), and i like it here :)

in the very south of britain, pretty much in the centre (east-west) of the country, so good links to other places (motorways north to london, and east and west go through here), and we get good weather. we're britain's second busyest industrial port, and still a place for cruise ships to berth at (recently had the world's largest ever passenger liner in town :))
its part of the Soton-Pompey conurbation (two cities very close to each other on the coast), which collectively have a population in excess of 1.5 million. not many beaches in either city though... bah!

we have one of europe's largest shopping malls:

http://www.garfnet.org.uk/pictures/20030924/big/dscf1265.jpg

its an old town, going back to roman times. this is the Bargate in the city centre, one of the three old entrances into the city when it still had walls (mostly destroyed in WW2):

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/8/88/Southampton-Bargate.jpg/800px-Southampton-Bargate.jpg

the football stadium:

http://www.worldstadiums.com/stadium_pictures/europe/united_kingdom/england/south_east/southampton_st_mary1.jpg

and much more i can't find pictures of *nods* (including the world class hospital which had its own reality TV series a couple of years back, the Ford factory where they make all the Transit Vans, the Ordinance Survey headquarters, Town Quay, the views of the pretty residential bits... all sorts)

here are links to the pictures of where I live.

downtown skyline (http://www.southwest.com/images/cities/okc1.jpg)

The bombing memorial (http://www.youdontsay.org/Okcity1.jpg)

before anyone asks yes, I did live in OKC when the bomb went off, yes my house did shake (even though it was nearly 13 miles away) and yes, I knew people who were killed.

the bricktown canal (http://www.familytravel.com/Bricktown%20canal%20in%20Oklahoma%20city.jpg)

pictures of the path of the biggest tornado in Oklahoma history (http://snrs.unl.edu/amet451/bowman/images/jpegs/overflightzoomed.jpg)

yes, I lived here then too, yes I got caught in it, yes I know people who died, yes I lived. You can read about the outbreak here. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Oklahoma_Tornado_Outbreak)

I could do the whole state, but that would be tooo many pictures.

I couldn't find any decent pics of the town I currently live in (Tomball). That's not surprising, since this place is really crappy. Well, there are plenty of Houston, so here goes.

Downtown on a very rare, clear day.

Downtown, in its usual haze.

Not as bad as everyone says. Detroit still has a very long way to go, but things are better there than they were 10-20 years ago. I don't get down to Detroit much myself, so I don't see much of it.

I live in the southern part of the netherlands (in a province called limburg), in a shitty little town called Nuth (near the borders of germany and belgium)

This is our town church, exciting ey?

This is the cutting edge of modern art inside our little town, situated in the central marketplace

And I just found out one of the townspeople here has discovered the wonders of internet as well: his own webcam which shows an empty street 24hours a day!

If you call a three hour drive close... From where I live you have to go at least for tho and a half , three hours to get to amsterdam, if you´re lucky

It´s not like everyone in holland is a stonethrow away from the capital, though a lot of people seem to think so. Of course, if one were speaking in terms of Australian distances between cities, then yes we are all living in amsterdam´s suburbs...
