Want to read something rather strange, but full of hope, that was prepared by the American military a few years back?

Read about The First Earth Battalion, a proposal to utilize Eastern meditation and bushido combat techniques, New Age thought, and modern technology to create an elite force of "Warrior Monks."

A portion of this document which describes one possible scenario for this unique force reads like a science fiction story:

"They parachuted in that morning and stood in a long line facing each opposing army. The Earth Battalion satellite above beamed this image to the globe. The Earth watched as this potential catastrophe awaited the conscience of one of the two [rival] army leaders to set. For they would have to bloody the Earth Battalion people in their path before they could attack -- and the world would know."

So with that sorted out...where do I sign up for the forces of Chaos?

My serious comment would be that it is not a particularly smart. Bushido is not the sort of thing you need to make the populace like you.

I can see the auditions now. The canidates are sat down in a chair and then while they are filling in forms someone shoots them in the back of the head. If they dodge the bullet using their psychic powers they are in.

Bio-Feedback? I heard of Bio-feedback. It works for... zilch. There are exercises that need to be applied for the supposed results to work, and these work sans bio-feedback. Not everyone has the skill to train this, and there are many factors which would prevent a bio-feedback instrument from working, or at least one that isn't fine-tuned to the individual.

The Earth is not a "connection to the universe". Your mind is, your BEING is.

And you can't play music off-synch in hopes of getting people down. Why? Because you'd have to study what SOUNDS strange for the CULTURE you're fighting. Basic linguistics knowledge goes a long way.

Quite frankly, even assuming that higher mystical training and the fine art of manslaughter mix (which they don't) this idea doesn't work. At all.

I did now. And somehow I'm thinking that it doesn't reflect particularly well on the US Military Planning Authorities if that is how they spend their days...
