I came home from work, drank an Australian beer, went out to an Oriental restaurant, came home and drank some American bourbon. A great way to celebrate. :D

I went to a bar and got a Mexican drunk to beat up a French drunk. Kidding. I forgot all about Cinco de Mayo.

I killed some French people like a good Mexican.

Edit: Who the hell actually cares about that? It was liberation day in the Netherlands. That's way more important.

I graded student papers and cursed in Spanish. (not really--I don't know any Spanish curse words, so I cursed in English while faking a Speedy Gonzales accent.)

I went to work.
I came home.
I had Chinese takeout for dinner.
I graded papers.
I modded.

Of course, I am not Mexican, so Cinco de Mayo doesn't mean anything more to me than Uno de Mayo or Siete de Mayo. ;)

We burned Mexican flags while singing the US national anthem in English. Of course drinking Samuel Adams and not Corona! Seriously though normally we go out and eat some Mexican food and drink a few Coronas. But this year decided not to because of our economic protest of anything Mexican. ;)

No it's not. As long as you've got access to some Mexican food, Mexican beer and Mexican tequila it's never irrelevant.

That may be percieved as an insult. Kind of like singing the US national anthem to a brit on the 4th of july. Alright maybe not an insult but probably annoying...

...oh, and what's a Cinco de Mayo? ...5th of May? Nope, that wouldn't be it.

EDIT - Oh, yeah, it is. Stupid international date line confusing me!

Went to school, saw some Mexican girls dress up in Mexican colors, helped a friend ditch class so she could get her dish for Spanish class (assignment really) to her class since every Spanish class in the school was holding a Cinco de Mayo party, and....that's about it.

Oh, and smacked some friends upside the head since they knew I was Colombian and asked me how I celebrated. Heh.

I actually wondered why everything was a Mexican theme party last night how embarrassing but at least I have an excuse for skipping school

Why? Cinco de Mayo isn't celebrating Mexican independence from Spain.

It's pretty irrelevant here, too.

I'd forgotten entirely about it until I saw this thread.

Fosters may not be considered a good beer in Oz, but it is far, far better than any American beer. :p

It is a Mexican holiday. They defeated the French invasion in some battle that day. I understand it is celebrated more in the US than Mexico.

The only reason I knew it was Cinco de Mayo is because the Moe’s Southwest Grill was calling itself Cinco de Moe’s Southwest Grill yesterday.

It's irrelevant when there are only about 1000 Mexican immigrants in the entire country, not to mention the fact that a Mexican victory over the French is of no historical value to the rest of the nation.

Heck yes it is. Anyday when there is an excuse to get drunk, it'll be celebrated in America. I swear, I think we're almostas bad as the Irish.

Actually that reminds me of a joke:

What's the difference between an Irish wedding and an Irish funeral?

And in the end it wasn't even that relevant to Mexico at the time :D

Strange that Americans put more effort into celebrating St. Patrick's day than we do. Very strange.

Actually, Cinco De Mayo has nothing to do with Spain. Look it up. It's about a battle won in 1832 against the FRENCH.
