It seems kids are starting fight clubs. One parent recently found video of his kid in a fight posted on the internet. You know, you can't stop kids from fighting. Maybe it would be better to let them box under supervision of adults. Anyway, there's a video attatched to the news story, but it's not all that good.

KIDS!!!!! they're 15. people that old used to get married and fight in wars. Plus the dad said they're fighting, maybe someone will pull out a gun!!!! If you meet up with mates to fight then you don't bring a gun. If someone would just set up a boxing club they'd have somewhere to go. Kung-fu kicks boxings ass anyway!

Wow, teenagers fighting, that's never happened before.

Why's this news? Hell I once saw a 14 year old girl jump and beat the piss out of a teacher when I was in highschool.

Now that's comedy!

Don't underestimate boxing. Boxing is one of the arts blended into Bruce Lee's Jun Fan kung fu. Boxing has some of the best punches and most efficient defenses against punching in the martial arts.

Indeed, old pugilism was a simple yet very effective art. There were a great many works written on the subject, before the development of sport boxing moved it out of the area of martial arts and into sport.

Mendoza Treatise - The Linacre School of Defence (http://www.sirwilliamhope.org/Library/Mendoza/)

The link shows one such treatise from around 1800 which details much of what old pugilism entails.

First, to Kellarly and Khadgar, those two names sound suspiciously like names form Escape Velocity Nova and a Blizzard release (either Warcraft or Starcraft, I can't remember which). That's good reference material and I salute you.

Second, it's p-u-g-i-l-i-s-m.

Third, 15 year old kids were marrying and soldiering because the life expectancy when such youth was considered man/womanhood was barely pushing 40. As that number increases, the ratio of life spent as a youth stays the same -- 15:40 = 25%. So now adolescence has extended to mid-20s to reflect the life expectancy we see now in the West -- 22:88 = 25%. Surely you've noticed that adolescence as a function of the maturation process has become of extended duration. Well, that and the "parenting cult" that has grown up around the complete overindulgence and fixation on children.

I say let 'em beat the fuck out of one another. One of the things missing in modern life is the "rite of passage". Kids might not feel like adults spot-on-eighteen because they've had nothing to endure that initiates them into that kind of responsibility. Of course, this isn't true for all kids and parents, but I'd feel comfortable wagering that it's a majority, if not a vast majority.

Indeed it is a name from Escape Velocity: Nova. Capital planet of the Polaris to be exact.

And yes I can't spell goddam it. :p

I'm stunned and a bit uncomfortable with the fact that none of you are appalled and disgusted by this!

I expected to be the only one who approved of these fights. :p

Ah well. What can you do? I am, however, concerned about videotaping it for the internet. Not so much that it's happening in this case(I'm assuming) by other teens, but that it might lead to another form of exploitation of youngsters by adults. THese teens fighting doesnt disturb me. The idea of these teens fighting for the benefit of a bunch of fat naked men on the other end of broadband hookups does. :p

But that's the internet. You have to take the turds with the treasures.

I hope these kids have fun.:)

I don't see any problems in letting kids box, just so long as its london prize ring rules. That should burn some energy.
