For the Sake of Arguement

I've seen a few threads about "undocumented immigrants" and what to do about them. They range from silly and unrealistic (Build a wall along the Mexican border) to inhumane. For the sake of arguement, I propose that we annex Mexico. Vicente Fox can be made governor of the Mexican territories. As they qualify, the Mexican states can be made states in the United States with representation in the House and the Senate. All the advantages of being United States citizens would be theirs. Mexican resources, heretofore mismanaged, would be managed now by American companies, sweat shops would be abolished. I can think of many advantages both to Mexico and the United States. So, for the sake of arguement, what do you think? Advantages, disadvantages, rants, flames?

It would fix just about as many problems as it would cause. And I just don't think they would submit to it.

I just think it would be strangely ironic and appropriate, given how much Mexican land has been taken by the US already.

Good picture. Could've used that when I proposed my Canadian invasion of the Northern States.

In all honesty though, I think we'd all be better off just breaking down the borders between our three countries and co-operating on continental issues. Can't see it happening in my lifetime though.

Of course, something similar to the german reunification problems might distract them from ruining the world for the rest of us.

I still remain more intrested in annexing British Columbia, but yeah, I suppose that would make for an intresting move.

Well everyone grouping up in large mega-nations will get us one step closer to the super-fantastic Orwellian world of 1984. I mean, with Big Brother watching out for you, why wouldn't you want to speed up the process?

All joking aside, feel free to make your own continental supercountries as you see fit.

Given the evidence we currently have to go n, shouldn't that read:

Mexican resources, heretofore mismanaged, would be mismanaged now by American companies...

Does this imply that Australia is Orwellian?

I doubt Mexico would agree on an annexation like that

And those go together how, exactly?

Thanks, I made that when a similar discussion was on here as well.

Does this imply that Australia is Orwellian?Yes, but only insofar as Australia is an American island, too insignificant for proper representation & state-hood.

An American island?

An American island?Since Australia seems to adjust itself to whatever laws the US might wish applied to others, I reserve the right to call it an American island.

Since it in no way participates in US government, I reserve the right to call it insignificant.

How about the USA, the one true nation of immigrants from every nation in the world takes over the world either by force or union and becomes the United States of The World?
