On Thursday, I got offered and have now accepted a job as the managing editor of the Prince George's Sentinel, a weekly community newspaper that is much closer to my home than my previous job was. Be on your best behaviour! You might be on candid camera... or at least buried somewhere in the pages of a newspaper in the Washington, D.C. area! ;)

Nice, Winner of Excellence in Local Journalism awards from the National Society of Journalists and Maryland, Delaware, and DC Press Association. Nice paper you got there...And your editors column reads like a Nationstates thread, with a headline like "This is Just Plain Bullshit" Quality.

This pointless google search was brought to you by 'my checks haven't arrived yet so I have no choice but to sit here doing nothing...'

congratulations!

i understand that managing a community newspaper is quite difficult. you have to strike the right balance between news and boosterism. it should be a nice challenge. good luck with it!

Thank you. :)

I put the first issue together in like one day and did a nice job considering it was my first time at that paper AND I had less time than I normally would. And it looked pretty damn good, considering. And I've got my reporters working on bettering their production from last week's issue (which was a major bone of contention with the CEO and the publisher). So I'm off to a decent start at least. :)

You'd have to subscribe to see the full edition on the Web, but you can see samples of four articles on the main page.
