There is speculation that Cheney will resign for "health" reasons shortly after the congressional elections. That would mean Bush would apoint a new VP.

The question is, who would Bush apoint---and moreover, why would anyone take the job? It would seem to me to be political suicide to run as the new VP of the worst Pres ever. I remember when an arguably good man, Hubert Humphrey, ran while Johnson's VP. He lost on the Republican slogan--"A Vote For Humphrey is a Vote For Johnson". I can just hear the campaign--A Vote For _________ is a Vote For Bush.

I think its going to be very difficult to replace the most evil monkey fucker in the White House. The Libby/Plame scandal is the real reason for this issue right now. They need a fall guy. Besides, Cheneys health is fine, his heart is made of baboon parts, bionic machinery, and lubricated with Satans spit. Hes the Darth Vader of Washington...

Because it gives you a leg up on running for President in 2008--that's the only real reason. You can start making noises and working policy issues and the like, and you'll be seen by the public as the heir apparent.

im not up on "good" republican candidates so lets suppose that he chose tommy thompson sec. of hhs and ex governor of wisconsin.(like anyone with a name like that could ever get elected)

if he took the job and became the CONSCIENCE of george bush, the angel on his shoulder as opposed to cheney being the devil on his other shoulder; the guy who insists on cleaning up the mistakes of george bush, he would have a huge advantage in the 08 race.

if he chose another ugly man spurring him on to do ugly things, it wouldnt help with anything but name recognition.

A replacement VP would be someone with no aspirations for the presidency, but is a total glory hound. I mean, how cool would it be to have your name listed among the Vice-Presidents of the United States? I'd take that job.

Personally, I think W. should nominate Hillary. Announce it publically without telling her about it first. It would be funny.

It could, which is why I'm predicting that if Cheney steps down, the new VP will be someone just like him--not running for President. Why? Because there are a number of Senators who are running, and they won't want to give anyone else a jump on them.

sorta like condaleeza rice on tv last sunday. bob shaffer asked her opinion of the national anthem in spanish. she didnt call bush an idiot but it was obvious that she didnt have a problem with it.
