I was wondering just now, about how I'm a fat ass and I blame the munchies.

Whenever I smoke weed I get the munchies.. lately I've been eating ice cream with instant coco mix and milk. Not healthy.

What are some healthy foods you can eat that make good munchies?

broccoli and low fat ranch dressing
carrot sticks and fat free yogurt (also good with fruit)
plain popcorn (not like butter lovers, just plain) seasoned with your favorite seasonings (I like chili powder, garlic powder, taco seasoning, and season salt, but not all at once)
baked potato chips (in moderation, they still have a lot of calories)
homemade baked potato chips (you can also season them like you do your popcorn)
apples and peanut butter
celery and peanut butter
raisins
craisins (super good, even if you don't like cranberrys)
smoothies
Butterfinger Stixx (one is good enough, but more than that and you are asking for trouble)
fat free orange sherbert (in moderation, still has loads of calories)

if however you are looking to just cut back a little, you should look at the calories and calories from fat, on the nutrition label, if the calories from fat are more than half of the total calories DON'T EAT IT!!

if you don't want to cut back that much, then stay better hydrated (8, 8oz glasses of water a day) and exercise more (walking for 30 minutes a day is a good start, even though I wear my pedometer and try for 10,000 steps, which is about 5 miles, today staying home mostly I racked up 8,000 which means I will shoot for 12,000 tomorrow which should be easy)

Well, it depends. Do you like cooking shit when you are mad high? I do, particularly frying things. Not necessarily the most healthy thing, but probably better than huge amounts of ice cream and such. Burgers are really good, make them with leaner meat. or any crunchy vegetable. Shit is good. Or some real good fruit.

I see that carrot sticks were already covered.

Nectrarines, grapes, cherries, strawberries -any fruit that tastes good to you if you like sweet snacks.

I've always liked cottage cheese with yogurt and grape nuts or chex cereal on top. I am by no means a healthy eater, but I love eating salads with croutons and ranch or bleu cheese. I suppose you could substitute with low fat/nonfat dressing if you're aiming for a more healthy diet. Those are probably the healthiest of the snacks I've had.

Another important thing to remember is portion sizes. For example, a craving for potato chips doesn't mean you have to eat the whole bag at once. Take a small container, fill it and put the bag, far, far away. It helps a bit.

Smunkeeville's suggestions are great. If you like fruits and vegetables, they make for better snacks (obviously) than other carbohydrates. Making your meals smaller, but more often, (5 small meals about the size of both your fists put together, spaced about 3 hours apart.)

Another idea, (if you're serious), is to plan what you will eat for most days of the week, and choose one day of the week to let loose.

Writing down your goals (example: 1 week from now, I intend to lose 5 pounds.), and then consciously make attempts to reach that goal.

Build Muslcle Mass! Muscle... burns... fat.... You don't need to be hulking, just increasing your muscle mass will improve your metabolism and control the effects of snacking.

For the most part these are all great suggestions, but to be fair: If the problem to begin with is the munchies, portion control is probably not a viable strategy.

The thing I tend to find with the munchies is that a) everything tastes pretty damn good and b) once you've started you can't stop. I turned into a massive fatty when I was at Uni I think my favourite combo was cheese toasties with a large variety of condiments (at one point I think i was going for 6 at a time) but found the best way to combat the flab was to plan ahead a bit for the night-time of tokey toking and make a large quantity of stuff like spicy rice salad or stir fry or curry or sumat that you can gobble and gobble and makes you full but also satisfies the multi faceted stoner palette. And distraction can be good too - just get involved with pro evo, goldeneye or final fantasy and you're well away for a good 6 hours without thinking of anything else..

there are tons of all kinds of things that don't require a lot of preperation that are still not bad for you. diversity is the key to nutritional health generaly. just stay away from most prepackaged 'junk' 'foods'.
