Well here is another splendid thread about video games :D.

I say, IMO, that the American weapons in final fantasy 7 are quite hard, mainly becuase i have never been able to beat either one. :(

Single player? Ruby weapon, damn thing kicked my ass every time. Emerald was a putz.

Multi-player I'd have to say the tiger guy in Zul'Garub (World of Warcraft), that guy kicked our entire raid's asses atleast a half dozen times last weekend and I can't figure out why.

I think we need a distinction between difficult tactically and just stupidly difficult and non-tactical. Always loved the Metroid series for bosses that are tough, but not just stupidly hard once you learn to fight them.

Try killing Deus at the end of Xenogears without taking out any of his four supporting parts first, I've tried it and I honestly don't think it's possible even with all the best equipment and the strongest possible party.

Either Mother Brain from Metroid(NES) or that multi-headed thing in Zelda(NES). Mother Brain was protected by Rios, turrets, and the most fiendish lava trap ever deviced. The multi-headed thing shot stuff at me. Plus, I had to kill all the heads. The dead ones floated around and tried to kill me.

All the final fantasy bosses were easy for me, like both ff7 weapons and the ff8 ultima/omega weapons were a pushover for my parties. I can understand problems with omega though, I did take one or two tries to expreiment how best to get lionheart :)
metal gear solid series did have some tough bosses though, and i had trouble on hard mode of shadow of the colossus. if you really want a boss fight, go out and rent shadow of the colossus, the bosses are so well developed and are just fun to fight for the challenge. if anyone needs final fantasy help, repost and ill help you out with my way to kill a boss.
PS-> FFX had a single hard boss to me : the third seymour. you know, the one who did zombie/fulllife to you right in a row? i really had to abuse aeons to win that one :)

Piekrom']some of the hardest bosses i have ever foiught or heard about is the final boss from chrono trigger nboy he was a killer.
I forgot about Lavos, not the battle against him at the very end mind you but the first time that you get a chance to kill him, in the Ocean Palace. Not a fight you're supposed to win but in New Game+ it apparently can be done since it IIRC has its own ending though I've never seen it.

Also from the Chrono series the Criosphix in Chrono Cross is really tough to kill--not hard to solve his riddles but to actually kill him it takes damn near forever especially with his constant counter-attacks. Also the Sky Dragon is a really tough fight, maybe the hardest in that game.

Oh - actually - the most pain-in-the-arse boss would really have to go to that fucking huge asteroid in Homeworld. In that mission where you have to blow it up, and you can't get the mothership out of the way.

The problem is - if you don't have enough firepower you simply can't win the mission, and you have to go back a couple of missions to gather enough resources and build up a huge fleet of ion frigates, destroyers and attack bombers etc. as well as capturing vast amounts of such ships from the enemy right from the start of the game.

Grrr...

What happened to the king of hard fights, Devil May Cry on Dante Must Die mode? I have to hands down give it to Nightmare (although that could be because i haven't actually got to nelo angelo 3 yet).

Some other hard as hell boss fights are in the twisted metal series.

Tekken Tag also has a particularly hard Ultra-hard mode as far as fighting games go (although tekken 5's hardest mode is rather easy sadly).

Another hard game, although personally I think it's hard in the annoying way as opposed to the original one, is Devil May Cry 3.

Regarding Final Fantasy, Emerald weapon was easy once you had done the following things:
1. Once that big crater thing is opened up by the meteor, go there and run down to you find a little bridge in a middle of a weird jungle. These little pot things appear and if you use an exilir, they auto die.
Remember now, there is a way of cloning items so you get 99 of them. Use that and get 99 Exliirs. Run and fight other monsters and these "Magical pots" and you get like 2000 EXP and you boost levels like all the time. Also, your magic points sore so you just practically own.
2. When your fighting it, get that really good Materia thing from a golden Chocobo [Ermmm, Knights of the Round], and get a Mime Materia. Use it, Mime it, Use it, Mime it, Use it , Mime it.
Does about 150k damage once it's mastered, [And you get a new one! NB. When you train against pots, it masters in a few hours]. Then if you mime it like 4-5 times, emerald weapon dies.
3. Go and trade it with the person in Kalm [Some uber dude upstairs somewhere] and you like get a really good item.

Jet Force Gemini
Only Nintendo game I never beat, of course it was one of the hardest games ever made.

After doing a massive, simply massive campaign and you meet the boss, you begin the attack - BAM SUCKA! She flees away to her moon colony, oh damn you don't have a working ship! Time to go collect 12 parts from across the entire galaxy just to power your ship up.

Needless to say I never even got to the final boss.

Here is the walkthrough for the final boss of JFG:

Starting off you will be introuduced to several out of control asteroids being
thrown at you by Mizar. Shoot the grey ones with your machine gun as it helps
a bit and your going to need all the life you can get. Mizar will then come at
you and slam down with his giant claw creating a huge fiery shockwave. To avoid
this jump just before it hits ground. He will then fly around, and do the
following attacks at random:

1. Mizar will fire three consecutive blasts of double lasers from his eyes.
Very cool looking, but the easiest to avoid.

2. Mizar will unleash a freezing cold blast of green air from his mouth. To
avoid
it, start at one end of the platform, and move all the way over in the other
direction.

3. Mizar will use his electrical claw to create a NASTY electric orb at one of
THREE
speeds, which in essence is another 2 attacks. The speeds are:
- Slow: Jump over it left and right, which is easy as it moves extremly slow
- Medium: Definetly the hardest. Once again jump left and right, this time
though
you'll need to do it much faster, as the claw is much quicker.
- Fast: Easy. Stand in either corner, and jump just before it reaches you, you
will
have to get used to the timing though.

Soon enough, he will fly away from you, allowing you to attack. Use your homing
missle
launcher, and QUICKLY lock on to his 'backpack' of sorts, and fire once. It will
hit
him as it is a homing missle, quickly switch to TRI-ROCKETS, as they are more
powerful,
and when he flies at you about to use the mantid claw again, fire one tri-rocket
at his
face, and then jump over the shockwave. You'll know you damaged him if you hear
the little
circutry sound he makes when you hit him in the back. Now switch to Homing
Missles, avoid
his attacks again, lock on quickly, and fire once, etc,etc...until he flies back
to his
little pad.

----------
Phase 2-3:
----------

This is the same as Phase One, only he gets faster and faster, and uses that
electric
claw ALOT. Since this phase's writeup is so short, i'd like to explain my
weaponry
suggestions. I've read my share of JFG guides, mainly the ones at Gamefaqs. We
all know
you can use rockets or missles, while missles are less powerful, they require no
aim,
while rockets are 3X as powerful, they DO require aim. For me, the best strategy
seemed
to be combining the two together. It does take a while to get used to, but i
think it IS
the best strategy possible. However, if you ARE good with rockets, use them at
all times,
otherwise, i'd stick with this strategy. Allright, after you blast the big lug
countless
times on stage three he wil BARELY land where you are.

------------
Final Phase:
------------

By now your veins should be popping out of your forehead and your Blood Pressure
should be
off the charts because here you are at the final stage, which is VERY similar to
the first
mizar battle, only this time - you have about half a lifebar left! Take out your
rockets
and blast the hell out of his mantid claw BEFORE he creates a
monster....shockwaves. Any
way, blast the living hell out of his mantid claw QUICKLY, and then destroy that
nasty
electric claw. Now it's you - with 10 rockets, and him with his bleeding head,
it's time
to finish this once and for all...

I loved that one.

On the remote control plane, the first two guys will chase you on foot if you shoot their vehicles. Just shoot them from afar and then nail the third guy and park your plane and wait. You don't burn fuel when you sit on the ground. When they come running up the street, blast 'em. You'll have used almost no gas and you'll have killed three out of the five you need to kill.

Definitely, though I think I would put Ruby as the hardest between the two of them. Although Dark Yojimbo in FFX was in practise harder, as you had to beat him 10 or 15 times before he would die. I would still say he was easier than either Ruby or Emerald though, (despite instant kill Zanmato). Funny thing with Dark Yojimbo is that he was harder than Penance (the hidden ultra-boss for which you must kill Dark Yojimbo to reach).

You're supposed to hide behind the rock spires when he does that.

The Bosses of the Megaman Zero games are a pain since they all have multiple Life bars while you have only 1.

And the Core Defender Robot in Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun Firestorm. Killed anything on the ground in 3 Seconds.
That thing took out over 70 Units and buildings before I finished it off. Took every Flying unit I had around 20 Strikes to kill.

I'd say the Omega Pirate from Metroid Prime was a serious b*tch to kill the first time.
Funny thing is that once I crossed that threshold he was rather easy to beat....

I finished that game :D

That boss took me a long, long time. There's actually another 'Floyd' mission after you beat the boss, but that only takes a few tries if you've played the other ones enough.

Tarturus from Halo 2. Play it on legendary mode, if you can even make it to him. Tarturus himself is easy, but dodging gunfire from his other brutes while dodging his giant hammer of death, and trying not to fall off the cliff gets real hard. He can even kill you when he's dead. When I beat him the first time I crouched up and down on his body and just spontaneously died.

The boss at the end of Serious Sam : The Second Encounter took a fair bit of work. It wasn't really that hard, in terms of difficulty, it was more the endurance factor.

I didn't think he was too bad. Then again, I was taking advantage of the AI and hiding around the corner with a sniper rifle.

Actually, I would rate Ugh Zan III as more difficult because of the constant moving and running around, not to mention getting the timing right to fry him when he's low enough on health.

The boss at the end of .Hack Infection

How the hell do you beat him if magic don't hurt him and melee does practicually nothing and he kills you in one hit?
