Ah it that time of year again when high school kids spend some times outrageous amounts of money on one night of "fun". This year I am going to add my self to that group (though I will not have an enormous budget). The theme this year is,” A Night In Venice” and after proms theme is “007”. So for those of you still in high school will you be going to prom or have you already. And for those of you out of high school did you go to prom?

I'm looking forward to after prom at my school. It's always a lot of fun. Last year they had a mock casino and a moon bounce.

I'm home schooled and technically out of senior high already, but a girl friend (girl who is a friend...) asked me to take her to her prom. I said yes even though I didn't want to... friends, pfft. One good thing comes out of it at least; my dad is letting me drive his '04 BMW 745i to the prom.

I went to Prom Junior and Senior years. I hated both.

This had nothing to do with the event, but more to do with my social standing in HS.

If you like going to HS events, Prom will be good for you. If you don't, it probably won't.

My prom was on a riverboat. A much smaller boat than I think the planning commitee thought it would be. Ah, what a joy-pictures where taken on the bow during the spring on the delta (That's small d, the Sacramento delta) where it gets windy after sunset (many dresses blown up...for 17 year old me that wasn't so bad...)...the food was served picnic style in the bottom of the ship-dry chicken and something else crappy...the dance floor was the size of a smallish living room...the trip was supposed to be 3 hours, it was an hour and a half. So most of the people sat in the muddy parking lot waiting for thier limos to return (I drove my moms car since the Malibu wasn't the most romantic ride)...the Sacramento River is lined, for those of you fortunate to not know the area, with Sacramento's homeless and drifter population. The shantees made a nice romantic glow...There was, of course, the requisite guy in speedboat-you know, those wafer thin ones with a blown V8 sticking out of them-buzzing the riverboat...

Why the fuck did I go to this disaster? My buddy watched way too many John Hughes films...

All in all, though, I have more stories of that than I would if it had been smooth. I did get caught makin' out with my girlfriend by the priest who's church we where parked in front of. (I hadn't noticed.) I tried to play a song for my girlfriend with a band that was at this little place but the band leader said he didn't know the song, attributed it to a generation gap...even though it was a Duke Ellington tune...

A disaster is always more entertaining after the fact than a smooth run.

snip.

prom on a boat sounds like a disaster waiting happen, at least the boat didnt break down in the middle of the river.

Went to prom (though at my high school, it's actually "Senior Ball," "Prom" is the Junior class's dance) with my girlfriend. We had dinner at this nice restaurant beforehand. We didn't take a limo or anything, and then we went to her house afterwards.

Now that it's time for her Senior Ball (I'm a year older), we'll probably do much the same thing. Except now I actually own my own tuxedo.

Screw prom themes. They're super lame.

I went to my senior prom with my gay best friend and we spent most of the night dancing to Baby Got Back. Good times.

Meh. It's been exactly a month since my school's prom. Let's just say that having prom, SAT testing, and April Fools Day was really interesting for some people.

I actually didn't go to prom (or the SAT, for that matter) - I didn't have a date, and LAN parties are much cheaper than prom to boot. :)

Hey I got prom this year. Taking my girlfriend to it...don't know in what, don't have limo. Probably go in my friends 67 Pontiac Acadian. Just another youth ritual of some sort, but might as well.

I read that as "LAN parties are much cheaper than pr0n to boot."

Of course, I wouldn't know if that were true, seeing as I've never financed a LAN party.
